Isn't there a real time view of the Iphone template -as we create it ..as it was in 1.4?

I noticed that in versions, 1.5 and 2.0..there isn't a real time view of the style you want to create your app in. I feel like as a beginner in this, i'm not understanding what exactly i'm creating, i wish i could see it like you could on 1.4 version. Any ideas?

Yeah, makes sense. The idea is that you create the app, download it, get it on the simulator. Once you do this a few times it's like :05 minutes. Really. When the 'empty app' is on the simulator, or a real device, you use the Refresh button on the actual device to see your changes. HTML simulators are cool, and they do serve some purpose but they are nowhere near as good as the real thing. We try to make it super-duper quick to get an actual app (with nearly no screens I'll add) running on the device super fast so you can see your work exactly how it will end up.

just read this! . i mentioned this in the other thread! ..sorry :). thanks though. but still, i'm a little confused on your answer. So are we gonna get it back again?. I understand what your saying about how much better it would be on a simulator..but sometimes, i just want to just see how it looks, not how it works. For example...i'm so clueless on what some terms mean, and while playing with the settings, i can see what's going on in real time..that helps us noobs :)

I'd like this too. My pc is so cr*p it struggles to keep up with a resource heavy dev environment running + internet + whatever else. I'd like to have an idea of what the app looks like and build as much as possible online before loading it into eclipse and grinding everything to a halt!

I don't think it's 'coming back'. In BTv1.4 the images an just about everything was hoasted by Buzztouch's server. After BTv1.4 since the hosting is not on their server their server doesn't have the files need to display your app. I don't have much need for such hosting since I use an Android device and refreshing is easy. I'm sure the cost of doing so is not an incentive to return to BTv1.4 even if it wwas feasible. Fred

I think it would be great if the app emulator was added to the Bt-Server. I find it really disturbing every project having to pause the creative process to download files just to preview work, other app builders already have this feature why not buzztouch. I also wonder why the app compiling cannot happen server side.

I for one would hate to see app compiling server side, it's what makes BT stand out from the crowd - the ability to code absolutely ANYthing that's currently possible into your app via Eclipse or Xcode, and have 100% freedom, is invaluable and amazing. No server side compilers offer this.

In another thead about porting apps from BTv1.5 to BTv2.0 Mark makes a good point about creating screens with JSON. Can that be Server side? I can certainly see how it becomes increasingly more difficult. Plus, which model is better for innovation. Fred

You are right raveyd , there is an advantage to compiling the code one self - What I should have said was that there should the option to also be able to compile code server side, you know for those days that I have more work that I can handle or that I'm nursing a hang over. ;)
