iPhone vs. iPad image sizes

Hi All, I have an app in which there are a lot of images...for buttons, backgrounds, etc. I used the simulator and it looks fine on both (though the buttons are 72x72). Since the iPad simulator is smaller than a real-life iPad, I wonder if the buttons will look pixelated on a live iPad. I used size 165 for the buttons so I can achieve a 3x3 grid layout. Any feedback from previous experiences? Should I have custom buttons that are larger for the iPad? Thanks, Dana

Take a look at https://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/IconsImages/IconsImages.html for the icon sizes, Did you test on a iPad? I would say test it and don't go with the simulator, if size is too small, increase the button sizes.

It probably wouldn't hurt to make the images match the larger size. I actually use 2 different images for small device vs large device. I use them as the button's "Background images" instead of the button icon file. (i.e. no icon file specified, but 2 different backgrounds which are the actual .png files).

Thanks for the replies! I'll be getting the iPad 3 when it comes out, so I'll be patient and test it then. If it's not as I anticipate, then I'll recreate png files specifically for the "large" devices.
