AndroidManifest.xml errors...

The very simple app I am creating using the latest BT-Server 2+ software is showing a number of errors in Eclipse. Most of them appear related to screen orientation. Since the app contains links to my YouTube videos, I selected allowing Landscape orientation. The other errors I'm not sure about. I used the Simple Menu selection. Main Screen with five menu items leading to submenus. Example... VIDEO TYPE ONE VIDEO TYPE TWO VIDEO TYPE THREE TELL A FRIEND ABOUT CONTACT US Under VIDEO TYPE ONE, TWO, THREE each are another menu set, each leading to a direct YouTube URL. The TELL A FRIEND and CONTACT US are a prepopulated device email. ABOUT is a HTML page on the device about the app. There are no app buttons or graphics other than the app icon. I am still trying to figure it out. If anyone has advice as to what I should check to correct these errors that would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Hi realworldincome, You didn't really specify what you manifest.xml error was so I'll just link you to this stackoverflow page dealing with one of the most common manifest issues people run into: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4404553/missing-androidmanifest-xml-when-importing-an-old-android-project-into-eclipse In the future if you can list the specific errors it will help us in assisting you. Thanks!

Make sure Tabbed Layout is being used tab icons are not included in download so they won't show up email and html will not work as tabs as they are actions and not screens hope this helps

Sorry guys. I meant to paste the error code from Eclipse into my original post, but obviously I didn't. Oopsss... need more sleep. :-) Wish we had a file attachment option in the forum to display a screenshot, but here are a couple of lines of code out of many similar ones: <activity android:name="BT_activity_root" android:label="@string/app_name" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation" <activity android:name=".BT_activity_base" android:label="@string/app_name" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"></activity> <activity android:name=".BT_activity_root_tabs" android:label="@string/app_name" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"></activity> <activity android:name=".BT_screen_wordDoc" android:label="@string/app_name" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"></activity> Pretty much all the errored lines relate to 'orientation'. @Parker - will see if I can figure it out from the link provided. @willjj85 - Right now it is set as Non-tabbed layout. And 'All devices allow rotations' BTW, the new BT site design is much improved! Thanks!

Sometimes the basics are overlooked, so I'll ask. Is this the first time you used / looked at the app? What API are you using? Fred

Hi Fred, This is the first time I have created an app using BT-Server 2+. In the past I used 1.4 Thought I had the settings correct and tried to compile, then got errors related to 'orientation' as shown above. I know what an API is, but am not sure what you are asking. Thanks, Charles

Read the Android Process. www.myskylla.wordpress.com Most likely your just making basic errors (with the exception that with the new site somethings are not working). Either way the Guide will help you. Fred
