How to start

Hey guys. I am new to this and have no experience of creating an app. My background is not IT. But I love a challenge. Where should I start.

You should start by reading the BT Docs here http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/

You have stumbled across a gem mate. Sign up for v1.5 when you get a chance, read the tutorials, have a look at the BT Facebook page, see what others have done then grab some coffee (other beverages are available in the canteen). Some superb tutorials here http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/ by GoNorthWest and others before you know it you'll be helping others and sharing your apps with friends and better still, the world! Welcome to BT!

I too am a newbie and plan on reading about BT on Facebook asap! I know I've got a lot of questions, I use a Mac, and I want to create iPhone app's. For now I want to build a free app about peace. After having messed around with the tutorials, I made a quiz, however I don't know what happened to the quiz and how to upload this or make it into an app so others may join (for free!)

Thanks, for your inquiry or reply. Where do I begin? For openers I use a Mac with OSX.6.4 and therefore I can't access Xcode via the app store? Do you have any suggestions? Also, I made an impromptu quiz with 4 questions about peace - actually quite entertaining. However I can't find the quiz anymore? Do you know how I can access this? I've been reading about BT although I couldn't find them on FaceBook? I plan on building a landing page on FaceBook and then hopefully the app will link with FB as well my stand alone website. Under construction. The app will be free, and it's really to both promote the discussion of peace, the brand got peace? and offer some FREE entertainment with some bands that want to work with us. Also, I hope, that by creating the app and bringing others to a forum about got peace? that we reach out to people around the world that are in need of our support? I hope to associate the Red Cross, Breast Cancer Organizations, and hope to get corporations to help fund clean drinking water. Peace, and thanks, Steve

One more question for now, how do I get the app completed and uploaded to devices? I know, not that simple, and yet I'm a novice with IT stuff... though I'm very open to learning, I use a MacBook Pro and run OSX.6.4. Do I need to upgrade to lion?

1. No need to upgrade to lion, no. I still haven't. 2. Have you signed up for Apple Dev account? 3. Facebook isn't too important, shows some apps others have built. 4. I'm all for peace. 5. When you say you have lost the quiz, what do you mean? 6. When you say OSX 6.4, you mean 10.6.4, right?

Yes, 10.6.4. The quiz I just made while being prompted. I've got to run, but will be checking in from time to time. I don't have an Apple Dev Account, I do however have older XCode in a DVD? I use me.com for my mail etc. Thanks so much.

If I were you I'd sign up for v1.5 in your control panel before you delve any further. Far more goodies. If you are serious about App Development you are going to need a Dev account sooner or later.

Give this doc a read so you are aware of everything you need to have before starting to develop for both Android and iOS: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Things_You_Need_Before_You_Start_Developing_Apps_v1.0.pdf Welcome to buzztouch! Mark

It's kinda like a walk in big huge park, with lots of paths to go down and get lost on, but with people standing at every fork ready to help you along! A super cool, very fun and friendly park indeed! Mark

Good to know, really? I'm just navigating via google to learn whatever I can about apps, stumbled into this park and have found quite a few paths. I'm listening to an iPhone apps commercial as I write this. Hey, I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, just create a conversation about peace and how to accomplish peace in a world where our technology has surpassed our humanity. Peace, Steve

Glad to have you here, Steve! You'll find us to be a pretty peaceful group, despite being on the bleeding edge of technology. In fact, some people have commented that this is the friendliest community on the net! Don't hesitate to ask any questions, no matter how simple you think they might be. It often helps more than one person when it's answered! Mark

Hi Steve, Depends on what you've done with it so far! If all you've done is log into buzztouch.com and done some configuration there, then log back in, select the My Apps tab, and you should see a list of all your apps. If you configured it and downloaded the source code, then you need do navigate to wherever those files are, and then you can begin to process them in Eclipse or Xcode. Does that help? Mark
