Apple Rejection for Not Enough Native Functionality

I've had a few apps rejected recently because Apple is now requiring more native functionality. My apps are for schools so I don't need a ton of native functionality. Apple suggested reprogramming in HTML5 then just offering the app on my website. The whole point though is that users browse the AppStore. Annoying. I was able to successfully argue a couple of apps but haven't heard back about the others. Anyone else having this issue and an easy up-front work around suggestion?

Kasm1, I also build apps for schools. I would be interested in checking out your apps. What search can I use? Maybe we can begin working together! I have a business dedicated to creating apps for schools, I am an educator, and I am looking for others that share the same passion. I also have the same problem with getting apps rejected for the same problem. E-mail me at [email protected] ! Can't wait

The two things that have helped me on rejections like this is building a quiz into the app and making more of my content either custom html or html pages. Apple seems to still be a bit schizophrenic though. I recently submitted apps for two clients that were virtually identical in how they were built. One was approved and the other rejected 'Not Enough Native Functionality.' I added a quiz and moved some of the content from urls to html pages and it was approved.

Also consider adding map or photo upload. Maybe even an email send will help. I have seen all of these assist an app making into the app store in other peoples examples.

Thanks everyone. I will try the quiz idea. The app pretty much consists of a link to the school RSS calendar feed, a map, email us, contact us, and a link to the grades website. And you are right, their approval process is completely arbitrary. I'm new at this so not sure how to convert to HTML vs. URL but I will Google it.
