Does my app have any dependency on buzztouch.com after build and release?

Hi all - this may be a dumb question but I'm new to this so bear with me. I am in the process of developing an app for iOS and Android, and am close to the release step. After it is built and released at the App Store / Android Market, does the app have any dependency on buzztouch.com to run? I assume it does not, but just want to confirm that. The app is built in BT 1.4, and uses Google Maps, links to a website, and the native dialer and mail function. Thanks in advance for your help. Warren

Hi Warren, If you are using v1.4, it has a complete dependency on buzztouch.com. In fact, if the user does not have a network connection, they won't be able to access the screens on your app. The reason is that all the screen data resides on the buzztouch servers for v1.4. In v1.5 and BT Server, however, you have the concept of an offline vs. online app: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Understanding_App_Refresh_and_Offline_Apps_v1.0.pdf A completely offline app has no ties to buzztouch servers at all. I would recommend you sign up for the v1.5 Early Adopter program, which can be found in the My Account tab. Gives you quite a bit more flexibility, especially in this area. Welcome to buzztouch! Mark

David - I am the little one... kind of a prodigy for eight months old... I did request and was added to the Early Adopters list - thanks for the heads up on the differences. From what I read, BT 1.5 is not quite there for Android, correct? I'm an Apple guy, but my potential customer base is primarily Android.

On the contrary. It's there. My blog explains alot of easy work arounds. In my opinion more is now capable with Android than iOS. Fred
