Apple Push Issues

Hello, So, I'm having some issues with Apple Push and a buzztouch.com app. I have the core settings set to Prompt For Notifications, and that's reflected in my BT_Config.txt file as well. I have the right certs uploaded to the BT server, and am signing with the right certs. But the app isn't prompting for registration. I deleted the app, reinstalled it, and still same problem. This is on a real device. If I look in Settings, I see that the app is listed, and I can toggle Notifications in Settings. I just can't get it to prompt the user for registration. Hopefully this isn't part of the "Push hasn't been working for a long time" problem. Any suggestions? Thanks! Mark

Hi Mark, If you have already accepted the prompt with the one device you're using, no matter if you delete the app and reinstall, you will not receive that prompt again. I've had this issue quite a few times myself. The way to get around is to try a new device, use a new certificate to sign and a new PEM certificate.

Hi @WaYsTiiD, Well, that's just bogus! Seems like if you delete the app and all its data, that would reset the prompt. Appears not to though, I guess! I'm thinking of moving over to Parse anyway...should be interesting if it works. Thanks for the feedback! Mark

Maybe you can clear the device UDID from the database to try again? Haven't thought that out that use case yet until talking about it out loud

Hey Mark, you shouldn't have to use a new device. Once you clear the app from the device it is like starting over with the fresh download. I would like to help you with it. Is this app still in production or is it live? Just shoot me an email :-) Tony Buzztouch

I did some more digging around. So to prompt the dialogue again, the app must be uninstalled from the device for at least 24 hours. However, there is a way around this: 1. Delete your app from the device. 2. Turn the device off completely and turn it back on. 3. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and set the date ahead a day or more. 4. Turn the device off completely again and turn it back on. See here https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/technotes/tn2265/_index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/DTS40010376-CH1-TNTAG42

Good sleuthing, @WaYsTiiD! I'll give that a go and see what happens. Still investigating Parse as well, since Push seems buggy on Android. @Tony...I'll shoot you an email if I can't get this working. Thanks for the offer! You guys are all Rock Stars! Mark
