Create Screens Programatically

Can you create screens from a text list automatically?

Hi, All screens in buzztouch are created through the use of JSON. Check out the documentation for information about what you need for each screen type: http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/index.php Mark

@ teqbean: Yes. Kidding after seeing @GoNorthWest's comment. JSON is plain text and the docs he pointed out will for sure get you going. In essence you can create any screens you want programmatically at runtime or define them in an external file in advance.

If I am going to create screens programmatically how do I get or generate the ItemID's? Can I just use an arbitrary ID I assign as long as it is unique?

Exactly. I generally use numbers. You can use text type names, just don't include any spaces or special characters. When you looking at the JSON, it's much easier to use some sort of numbering strategy to group things so you can sort of keep track. Like web1, web2, map1, map2, button1, button2, etc.

My thoughts exactly I just didn't know if some sort of GUID was required. Thanks!

If a screen is created programmatically at runtime or defined in an external file will the screen be available via the control panel?. I assume the answer is no, but is there a method to add screens programmatically to the control panel? I assume this would only be possible with BTv2.0? Fred
