New App on store - thanks BT

Thank you BT and a whole host of forum members I have done a free app on writing a CV/Resume and also a way of promoting the full app. Its a app that top people from the recruitment industry have helped me write who find crazy pay jobs.Would really appreciate anyone's views and comments. Also any improvements or areas missed I will receive with great gratitude. the app is cv/resume lite the link is http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id498133241?mt=8 At moment on screen no preview screens or info comes up so I am not sure why but my web is going a little crazy or if i have done something wrong?

Congrats, Mark! I, too, am unable to see the app info in my browser, so they're not just filtering out you. Must be some crazy preview images you included! Mark

Hi Mark Great looking apps by the way, well done Mark. I am a newbie based in Uk too; how did you change the Copyright details in the default buzz touch Xcode project. It comes up with copyright by founder David Book....? Do you just edit the details in the info list pages or something? Thanks David at Buena Vista Management Consultants LLP

Hi Mark I am a newbie to buzz touch and also based in UK (Kent). Question; how did you change the copyright notices as the BT Xcode project is all worded to David (Book) at Buzztouch? Did you just edit the text in the Xcode project on the infolist page? Not sure where to start. Obviously by the time my app(s) get to iTunes I need it to say copyright for my Apple Developer account not BT. Thanks, Great apps by the way, well done Mark. regards David at Buena Vista Management Consultants LLP

Hi @Vista58, Actually, I wouldn't think you'd be allowed to change the copyright notices on the BT files, as that would violate the intent of the copyright. If you changed it to your name, than you're saying you created those files, and that they are yours. I don't think there are any issues with creating an app using copyrighted files...people do that sort of thing all the time. The app itself would be copyrighted to you, and you are using the underlying BT files with permission from Buzztouch. That in no way implies that they own the copyright to the app itself. Mark

Hello @vista58 - thanks for the lovely comments Haven't a clue about the copyright notices, happy to reedit if not there, but not sure where there is. I did the app fully in BT with no delving into xcode apart from build and validating. Mark(GoNorthwest) would it be possible to check on app that everything as it should be, if you have downloaded it. I would hate to be doing anything incorrect. Bit tired as I stayed up to watch the superbowl till 4am (without wings), only intended to watch 30 mins, 31/2 hr later engrossed at the last 2 mins of play.

@Vista58: Welcome aboard. @GoNorthWest has this right. Because the source code files included in your project where not created by you, it's not appropriate to change the copyright info listed in those files. However, the application itself, the one in the App Store is for sure YOUR creation and your name should be listed as the copyright holder in the App Store (it asks you for this when you submit for approval). Copyright stuff is commonly misunderstood and it's normal to be confused a bit. The general idea is this: If you use some source code without changing it (that was provided to you by somebody else) you shouldn't claim it to be your own work. However, any modification, even the slightest, should be mentioned in any copyright info found in a file. Example: If you modified the BT_screenMenuList.m file, you should document your chnages by adding something like this under the orignal copyright notice... 'This code is based on the original BT_screen_menuList.m file created by [original author name]. I modified lines: 34 - 34' copyright 2012 [Your Name] Generally speaking, nobody but you will ever see your source code anyway but it's possible that someone could. The idea is that if you shared your source code with another programmer they would understand who created it, then who modified it. It's challenging sometimes when files are modified in many many places. At some point, if you modify a file in many ways, the file will become entirely your work. This is OK and in these cases you should just remove any existing copyright info and add your own. This is because the file is now entirely your work. This is a long way to say, add your name to the App Store for copyright info and don't worry about using the source code we provided you, that's the while idea behind open-source licenses ;-)

Hi @vista58 Thanks for the lovely comments about app Not sure about your copyright info as I have not edited anything in xcode and only used it to build and submit app, all stages were done in Buzztouch. If there is something missing in files I will immediately amend, just don't know what I need to amend or where to amend it. If anyone can spots something that is incorrect please let me know and I will change it as we are all here under the invitation of BT, and code under there rules. Marko

Hi David thanks for the guidance I am still confused though - is there anything I have accidentally changed as the only thing I inputted directly as sort of code was custom html via the BT site. Hate to think I have done anything incorrect! Marko

I doubt you changed anything but have no way to know. Dont' worry about this too much, copyright stuff is more about protecting you than use. Your name should appear in the App Store under the copyright. Our name should appear in your source-code (that nobody will see anyway). Deep breath...no stress...you're all good.

Phew - I felt like an O J Simpson impersonator, and I was not on the grassy knoll in Dallas, and I did not call for the last play in New York giants to sit on the touchdown area rather than run the time down and get a field goal. Felt like the count of monte cristo with Mark and macapple ready to make the iron mask ( I think I have two films confused there) Went to xcode to look at my app delegate under BT_config files - and this is at the top - I feel as Right as Tina Turner divorcing IKE * Copyright 2011, David Book, buzztouch.com * * All rights reserved. * * Redistribution and use in source and binary forms, with or without modification, are * permitted provided that the following conditions are met: * etc ..........
