Doubt concept to update the application

I have a question that I always wanted to ask, but could not explain. I want to upgrade the application, but do not want while I'm working to break the original application. Is there any way to do this? I would appreciate an explanation in words easy, because my English is very limited. I Love Buzztouch

Thanks Mark Correct me if I'm wrong, and excuse my English. If you intend to update, delete the Cloud URL link and put it back, so the application user will receive a warning and that the application has been updated, but they really did was take his the Cloud URL link. I finish work and get on apple .... My question is: I go up config.txt file is newer than the one with the user, give this a problem? I feel the English ... And thanks again

Hola Don Javi, For purposes of this discussion, I'm going to assume that your application is online. That means the Report to Cloud URL and Configuration URL both have values in them (most likely the defaults). Here are your options with respect to updating the content. * You can create a separate test application where you develop and test the new features you want to provide before you roll them out in the existing application. This is one way I do it, and it ensures nobody sees any of the work I'm doing, because it's an entirely different application. Once I have finished testing things, I just duplicate those items in the target application, and all is well. * You can copy your current BT_Config.txt file to somewhere like DropBox (http://db.tt/TCxVvk8), and then change the Configuration URL to point to that new location. Users will still be able to check for updates and grab current data, but it will be from the DropBox location (or wherever). While your application is pointed to this new location for the config file, you can make changes to your app on buzztouch using the control panel. When you want to test your changes, just download the current config information from the Core Properties section of the control panel, paste it into your local BT_Config.txt file, and recompile your application. It's a tedious process, but the only way to really do it for an online app. Once you are done developing, and the config file at buzztouch is the one you want your users to use, change the Configuration URL back to buzztouch, and they'll get the new content. Hopefully that helps, and is somewhat easy to understand. Let me know if it's not, and I'll work to clear it up. Mark

Thanks Mark ... I have explained excellently. I will try to read it a thousand times and if I have a doubt expose it. I Love Buzztouch!

Mark, If I create and app and take it offline, then I delete the App from the Buzztouch Control Panel, I assume the app will continue to function. Is that correct? If so, could you then create an app with the same package name and update the old app. Not sure why I would want to do so, but that's just a matter of time. Fred

Hi Fred, Yep, if the app is offline (no ties to buzztouch at all), and you delete the app from the buzztouch control panel, it should still function. At the point that it's an actual compiled app running on a device, and it's in an offline mode, then everything needed for it to run is on the device itself. And it would make sense that you could then create an app with the same package name and update the old app. Not sure why you would want to do that, because if the app is offline, like my AZ Fishing Spots app is, you can continue to work on it through buzztouch, and then just compile new packages to upload to iTunes.
