Morning. Saw this article from someone who says he always forgets how to do ad-hoc distribution and wrote a blog post / how to guide: http://useyourloaf.com/blog/2010/12/23/creating-iphone-ad-hoc-distribution-builds.html Didn't read all the way through but thought it would get you started.

I use test flight to distribute the files. It makes it easy to gather UDID's for the provisioning profile and it makes it easy for the people testing / using the app to install. Jim

If you can build an app, you can get it out with ad hoc. It is by far easier than submitting to apple and getting approval.

Have you set up your provisioning profiles yet? (In your IOS developers account) Once you have that set up you download the profile and drag it into Xcode. Then when you codesign the app you will have that to choose as an option. I believe there is a video under help with code signing as well. Check that out.

Oh and BTW your profile needs to set as an Ad Hoc style, in your developers account.

When you are in Xcode under info / build settings / do you see the area where you can select from a dropdown menu for your profile? If I remember right there are 6 areas you can select (debug/Release,all,etc) Just select the top one (all) and pick your ad hoc profile. If you dont see it as an option you will need to reinstall the profile. Once you can pick it, (and run/build) this error should go away. As a side note I have had trouble with profiles in the past not attaching to my devices (not showing in my drop down list). I have had to reboot my system re install the profile and then everything worked fine.
