Welcome. There are several ways to add photo galleries. Where are you stuck? There are a few good threads on here about Flickr, storing the images (with image upload feature as well) on your own server or dropbox account and a few other ways as well. Flickr - http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=12AC6263FC09A9E177D6D32&status=&searchInput=flickr&sortColumn=FT.dateStampUTC&sortUpDown=DESC¤tPage=1&doViews=1 Post back if you run into errors or problems. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I wouldnt say that i am stuck becuse ive not even tried yet. Just posted for some guidance in the right direction. Basically i am a photographer so wanted a small app about myself and prices and also wanted like a gallery tab/option Something similar to the flower icon on the iphone where it shows albums (so these would be my galleries (weddings, portait, scenery etc etc) then when selected you'd see all my pics and can be opened to view So with flickr, would i ypload all my pics to this site and then use an 'api' to put them onto the screen. ? Thanks

Good stuff, lots of photographers on here. You got it in one. Flickr is powerful, you can pull images with tags or just your own, you'll request an API and drop that in your gallery url with some other bits and bobs that you'll see in the thread above.

im confused (i think) im registered at flickr and uploaded 1 pic. got my API and secret code created a JSON url http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.people.getPhotos&api_key=MYAPIKEY&user_id=MYUSERID&format=json&nojsoncallback=1&auth_token=72157629113770143-35faa94190fc219f&api_sig=4b9ec39b37b6535583086c6eae68f1b6 This brings me back {photos:{page:1, pages:1, perpage:100, total:1, photo:[{id:6795397567, owner:MYUSERID, secret:MYSECRET, server:7027, farm:8, title:3d-poker-chip, ispublic:1, isfriend:0, isfamily:0}]}, stat:ok} so to me, this looks successful. how do i translate this to my app ? Do i just point to the JSON url (with a customer URL/webpage)? (http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.people.getPhotos&api_key=MYAPIKEY&user_id=MYUSERID&format=json&nojsoncallback=1&auth_token=72157629113770143-35faa94190fc219f&api_sig=4b9ec39b37b6535583086c6eae68f1b6) sorry for being thick but please forgive a newbie....

OK, back. Long night yesterday and strange day today. @Bonzo - You are going to set up an Image Gallery in BT. Under the 'Advanced Gallery Properties' select 'Screen Data URL' and add in your URL for Flickr as above. Should read something like this: http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.people.getPublicPhotos&api_key=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&user_id=XXXXXXXX@N04&per_page=250&format=json I've changed this so my key and ID are of course XX's. This url will pull all the images from the associated photostream. Cool thing is you can then grab the unique email address for this stream and add an email upload button and the text that the users enter in the 'Subject line' will display as the Gallery title / description when viewed. I prefer this method to storing on my server for a few reasons. 1. It removes strain from my creaky server. 2. It is easier to manage the photos. Had a wee issue with someone uploading objectionable content once and it is a far nicer way to view new uploads (if you are doing that) and easier to delete. 3. Flickr offers some cool 'display' functions, you can display photos with certain tags and so on. Any of that help?

I think im getting it but i must be being thick somewhere. In buzztouch (BT) i dont have any kind of image gallery option. I can see single image or custom URL/webpage and therefore cannot see 'Advanced Gallery Properties' other options (call us, email us, custome text, custom html, streaming video, youtube video, streaming audio, rss reader, fun quiz, single location map, multi location map, excel/wor/pdf doc, share via email/FB/Twitter) Thanks for being patient

Gents (and lady I believe) - Glaring omission on my part, you are not on the early adopter list yet so you're using v1.4 to build. Even if you call in Sherlock Holmes and Inspector Clouseau you are never going to find the gallery option we are talking about, sorry. You need to get on v1.5 Early adopter and the light will shine down on you!

I had a feeling that was the case but though it may just be my inexperience. I will wait for 1.5 before working on that app. I'll play with 1.4 to practice on the capabilities that that has to offer. Thanks for your help

You can v1.5 right now, submit the request on your control panel account page.

Nice one, v1.5 is superb, yeah? Glad you got it working first time. Flickr does have a few limits when you need to be a power user, true story, still a great service for free though. Here's a link to some alternatives, enticingly and appropriately called '7 Alternatives to Flickr' - http://www.photographybay.com/2007/12/03/flickr-alternatives/ It is an old post but know a few of them are still out there.

Hello! I'm having problems with images added to a Gallery page. The problem is that I have added images, to the page, and inserted the image files into the BT_images directory, but all I get is the ? on the page, in the simulator. I have managed to load one .png file and display correctly, but others seem to be ignored, but the gallery does recognise they exist....just does does not display... What am I doing something wrong? Cheers, Pat.

Hi @Pat, Welcome to buzztouch! Check out this guide to adding files to your project : http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf It's possible that while you've added the images to the BT_Images folder, you haven't added them to your project as well? Thanks! Mark

Hello Mark, Thanks very much, for the prompt reply and the link to the instructions. Perfect...that was the issue, for me. I was copying my images into the source code (download) folder and not into the Project (xCode) folder.. Simple, when you know how... Query #2, is it possible to make the Gallery images clickable to open a page within the app, or web page? Best regards, Pat.
