can't install bt-server 2.1.6

Hi, I uploaded it to the bt-server location. I opened the URL domain.com/bt-server/install/ and the only thing that I get is: You should have already created an empty database and user as described in the README.txt file included with this software The database should have utf8_unicode_ci as the collation (see image). The database user must have SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and CREATE privileges. If you're unsure what this means, ask your system administrator for assistance. This installation process does not create an empty database. If you're on a shared host your account type may not allow you to create new databases. In this case, they probably already provided you with a database and login. This is OK. This software can run on the existing database. If you're unsure what a table prefix is, use the default bt_ prefix. Application PHYSICAL PATH like /var/vhosts/domain/httpdocs/BT-server (not a URL) There's no next button or anything else. I tried editing install.php and setting the path variable manually but it did not help. Am I doing anything wrong? Please advise

Hi @izghitu, Have you created, or have had created for you, the database that you will need for BT Server? Also...have you looked at the installation document that comes with the package you downloaded? It provided step-by-step instructions on how to get it working. Welcome to buzztouch! Mark

Yes, I created the database, username and password, I also added the values for the db settings inside the index.php file from the /install folder and still no change. I read the instructions and I am an experienced sysadmin. Please advise

Experienced admin...cool, must be easy fix then? The /install/index.php file is a relatively simple script that displays a from for you to enter some info, you should be seeing this form. Could it be that 'index.php' pages are not being served as the default page when no file name is provided in the URL? This is web-admin speak! What happens when you use domain/BT-server/install/index.php

Strange. You should see the paragraph of text you describe, and then a form to submit. When you first load the screen, you are not 'done' entering some info so you'll get the starting form. When you press 'next' (which you can't see now) this HTML form posts to itself. When this is done, you'll see another form. Do we know for sure that PHP is running on this machine? Can you open index.php and put a simple echo 'test' statement at the very top to make sure PHP is running? Something's not adding up, not heard of this before ;-)

Thanks, I do not see any form to submit or Next button, only the text I told you about. PHP runs fine, I can run a php.php with phpinfo() in it and I can run install/index.php(which is a php script). Any ideas? Are there any special requirements for the installer to run? Please advise

No special requirements for sure, thousands of these things are running so for sure something crazy is happening, funny. If you want, send an email to info 'at' buzztouch.com with the URL to your install so we can get a look. Or, you'll need to inspect the index.php file in the /install directory to see what's happening. You'll want to figure out why lines 316 through 370 are not showing. This is the HTML form that shows for 'step 1'

Even if I input the values of path, dbuser, etc into the URL like index.php?path=...&dbuser=... Nothing happens. Please advise

Hi -- I am a newbie and I am having the exact problems described by Mark. Unicode is as requested. I entered username, db name and password. I'm gonna skip to the email step, above, if that is ok. Thanks, Joel
