Android 1.5 crashes on wake.

The BT1/5 app is working great. Have just one main bug left. I wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue with their BT Android 1.5 apps. After using the app and allowing it to sleep or reside in the background for about 10-15 minutes. If I try to call it back up or simply tap the icon again to reactivate and use the app it force closes on me. After the force close I can pull the app back up again and it reloads from the splash screen and operates normally. Has anyone else had this issue and found any solutions to the problem? I am running on Android 4.0 ICS on a Galaxy Nexus. I will test on some Android 2.X phones as well.

That's not a normal problem. Problem is with the app, not with BTv1.5. Fred

Ok, I am not sure if my issue may be the same or not. After sleeping for a bit when I try to recall the app, it will hang on a blank black screen and I must Back Button out and reload it for it to open again. I have 2 apps and both do this.

Are you using a Splash screen? Fred

Not sure what the error is, or what the fix is, but I'm fairly certain the source of the error is the Splash Screen. Fred

Try deleting the Splash Screen and post result. If it works we'll know it's the source of the problem. Fred

OK I'll test and see if that fixes the error.

Turned off the splash but it still crashes after trying to pull the app up from the background after a few minutes sleeping.

It may be some data remains. Try uninstalling and clearing cache or creating another app without splash screen. Fred

I have the same problem. App load and runs ok until I go back to Home or open another app. When I try to return to my app, I get a message saying the app stopped unexpectedly and I have to force close it. Once I do that it will reopen and run fine. I played around with the splash screen option but decided to leave it out. I'll check to make sure it's not still turned on.

@lorenh, I've only experienced this after using a splash screen. Problem persists even after I removed the Splash screen. So I suspect some data remains. Fred

If you clear out the apps cache in the system settings your app will default back to your original settings which if compiled with a splash screen will continue to use those settings. I would suggest turning off the splash screen and re-downloading and compiling the app which can be a pain for some depending if you have code customized. I assume there is no code fix or plan to repair the source to make the splash screen functional without the wake from suspend crash? This crash has been tested and appeared on both Android 2.X and 4.0 phones.

The Splash Screen apparently works for some. Not sure what the 'correct' settings is to avoid the problem. Someone needs to read all the posts about the Splash screen, do some googling, maybe a bit of some stackoverflow and some trial and error. I'll buy the coffee. Fred

Success. I cleared the cache and data then uninstalled the app. Downloaded the code (after making sure the splash screen was not installed) and re-compiled and installed the app. No more crashes when switching between apps or on reboot. Thanks Fred. BTW, has anyone had the splash screen work in Android 1.5? I just assumed that Android didn't support splash screens when mine wouldn't work. I figured that it was for iOS devices. Most of the screen transitions don't work on my Android device.

I'm not sure it has or hasn't worked. Need to review Forum posts. Fred
