Hi Timo, That's a normal situation. You have to add your own icons. You can find a list of icons here: http://www.buzztouchmods.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2&download_id=10 Best Regards, Danny

Hi Timo, That's correct too. BT-server works a little different than bt 1.5 you have to add the icons you like to use manually to the BT_Images folder in Xcode. Best Regards, Danny

Timo, If you don't like to include the buttons/images into you Xcode project you could also use the url for that button/image. I think this option wasn't included in the 'standard' BT-server edition. If it wasn't you have to over-write the file www.yourdomain.com/yourBTserverinstall/files/plugins/bt_screen_menuButtons/itemProperties.php with this one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3427464/BuzztouchHelp/bt_screen_menuButtons/itemProperties.php if you do this, make sure you have a copy of your original file. Once overwritten - choose Image URL Small Device (Select) and select an external url or point to an icon (if you clicked select) in your files / media directory. Hope it helps. Best Regards, Danny

The reason the icons were not included is they are copyrighted. Something to consider if you're creating an app for commercial use, especially if you're creating one for a client. Fred

Good point Fred, people are all too quick to forget about copyright issues these days. Also not always a good idea to reference icons for navigation to a URL unless you have first rate hosting. If Apple open the App and your server is having issues there will be no menu icons and your app will most likely get rejected. These icons are so small in size it makes far more sense to include them in the binary so they load first time with no lag, looks far more professional than a spinning icon as the icon gets pulled in. That said many icons and pages can be set to cache so will only get called once unless you select force refresh. Either way is alright of course, question of preference and aesthetic value.

I just wanted a bit of clarification. Is this correct ... With 1.4 & 1.5 , since the {system/service/server} so to speak, is Buzztouch itself, they hold the copyrights to what they have on their {system/service/server} to serve via the applications created there, including the downloadable source code to compile. SO they hold the copyrights to it and its contents, to partial extent here or complete extent over here, depending on the files, but all hold some sort of copyright. So even copying the images or other files from a 1.4/1.5 version to the server version would still hold the same as if they were in the source you downloaded, copyrighted. The downloaded sources (images here) are copyrighted the same as the images you would go to the web to download. Just wanted clarify incase anyone was wondering. Am I correct? On another note, are they usable for applications that will not be a PAID FOR app? I know I will be creating a couple apps (android) that I will never charge for. We are completely for FREE, since it is in our name. So the apps for this project will never come with a charge. Would these apps be allowed to use the copyrighted images, without causing any waves or legalities? Again, just wanted to clarify for any that may be wondering (like me). Thanks

I don't believe they own the copyright. They're using per license, therefore they can't give what's they don't have. Personal use is not the same as free. Fair use is a Defense to copyright right infringement. But it's still an infringement. Basically ask yourself these questions? Am I benefiting from their work? Not good. Am I explaining, mocking, or discussing their work? Probably ok. Would I like it if they use my work that way? Probably not ok, see above. But, I'm not trying to take anything from them? You should ask. Waves of legalities?? Depends, they may never know about you. FREE?? That's Not the issue. Hope this helps. Fred

Good food for thought. I was looking for more clarification, for me or others, and got some. I know I have no real need for extra images, besides what comes with 2.1.6 (or plugins) that are included/added without any manual additions by me, except ones I have created myself that could be pulled from my own URL anyway. So all I need to worry about is what I have already agreed to anyway ;-) when obtaining and agreeing to use 2.1.6 Thanks

Hi, about copyright/licence: wasn't aware of that. If you need other icons have a look at http://glyphish.com/ To use them you just have to include a link in your app (create an 'about page' and mention that the icons you used where created by glyphish and put in a link to their website.) Remote or local images: If you use images that will never/not change in your app you should include them in the BT_Images folder (while creating the app it you could use remote images so you don't have to recompile every time you want to check how the results are when a new image is added. On the final app change remote images to local images). If you frequently gonna change images - use the remote url option. Best Regards, Danny

Danny, that's a good suggestion (when creating the app) about when to use image url's. Glypish is a great resource. Fred

Not sure I understand what you mean in the creation of Xcode. Images added to the Server can and are being used in various apps. Fred

Please describe in detail how you upload the image. Are you using BTv1.4, BTv1.5 or BT Server v2.1.6 ? Fred

Images in the BT Server v2.1.6 go in the res > drawable file. There's not a BT_Images file in BTv2.1.6 The reason I ask you to describe how you uploaded the images is because you upload in BTv1.4, you put the images in the BT_Images in BTv1.5 and into the res > drawable in BTv2.1.6 (HTML Images into BT_Docs) By reading your post, you'll clearly see you're confused. I suspect you're using BTv1.5. But by getting you to post (How) you uploaded the image(s), you'll probably reach an understanding of what is confusing you. Sometimes a good answer is not an answer, but a question. Fred
