Newbie

I have no code experience at all but want to create a database driven app. As an example I'll use a weight loss app b/c it has a lot of features I want to create. Those include providing a list of options the user can choose from, along with allowing the user to input personalized info, such as input weight, or other content/notes, etc. Ideally I would like some type of calendar functionality, or a way to input info AND recall info for particular days. Pie in the sky is a reporting feature but that can wait. Will BT allow me to create this type of app?

Hi @Anga20, Welcome to Buzztouch! Yes, you could create this app using buzztouch, but it would require a significant amount of extra coding beyond the features that buzztouch currently offers. At present, there is no native database integration...something others have wanted, but I'm not sure have solved how to do it yet. You could easily, however, link to a mySQL database on a web server, and do what you want to do that way. That would require no extra coding on the buzztouch side, but some mySQL and PHP work on the database side. In short...no easy way to do it with the current buzztouch features, but no impossible with some extra work and research. I would encourage you to sign up for the v1.5 Early Adopter program, which can be found in your My Account tab. There are way more features for you to play with in v1.5 than in v1.4. Again, welcome to buzztouch, and let us know how we can help! Mark

Thanks. If I have the code how would I use BuzzTouch to link to a mySQL database on a webserver? BTW, I did request access to the Early Adopter program. Thanks for the tip.

Hi, The best way to access a mySQL DB on another server is to use PHP to make the calls. It's pretty simple, and there are tons of tutorials online showing how to do it. Do a search on 'mysql php' and you'll get tons of results. Or, post back an example of what you would like to do, and we can try to walk you through it! Mark

Thanks. I'm not sure this will work after all. What I was hoping is that I could create the tables and API in Kumulos: http://www.kumulos.com/ and import them into BuzzTouch. I have a very form heavy app I want to build and no skills or money to pay someone.
