Twitter search update alerts

I need to create an application for Twitter that allows me to type in specific search terms, when those search terms come up on Twitter I'll get a notification on my app. How the heck do I do this I'm a newbie!

I would imagine have twitter send you the notification that perhaps feed into an RSS feed. I've never used Twitter, but I've heard some discussion about something like this about twitter recently on the radio. I think it was NPR.

Great now how do I plug that feed or URL into my application? Also is it possible to receive some kind of notification when something comes up that I'm searching for?

The second link above has an RRS blog that'll show you how to do your feed in the app. Notification, not sure about that. I'm sure you could have Twitter send it to you. Would need to delve more deeply into Twitter to suggest something. Fred

The answer is probably not in Twitter but in somehow incorporating push notification. Or have a login in the App to collect emails which are used with Twitter to notify user either via email or push notification.

I can see this being a useful feature to enhance an app, but if that's all you're doing, perhaps a widget would be more appropriate. Fred
