Using Excel to make an app

Hi, I am an engineer that frequently uses long complicated equations for my job, some problems require 2 or 3 pages of equations to work out. Recently I started exploring making excel spreadsheets where I could just input the numbers, and at the bottom it spits out the answer. Makes it so much easier than getting out the calculator and several pages of paper. What I would like to do is create an app where I can build the formulas into the program and other engineers can input their numbers and get the answer. I thought making an app where I just uploaded my excel tables would be the answer. But that doesn't seem to be working. I know absolutely nothing about making apps, NOTHING. Would this be the easiest way to have the app work, by making the formulas on excel, and integrating them into an app? Thanks.

Let me guess, you hit the back button several times, been there done that. It's a bad habit that's hard to break. You're using Android correct?

I want to make the app for ipads and iphones. I saw a website called spreadsheetconverter.com but my excel is 64bit and it looks like their program only works for 32bit. I'm in way over my head here, but I know it's a great idea, I just know absolutely nothing about html javascript and xcode. I work in the oil industry, and there's tons of people that would use my app if they only have to insert their own numbers or choose selections from a drop down menu. I see lots of calculator apps, but none for my field of work. For example, one of the screens could calculate pit volume for a rectangular tank - (length * width * depth * number of pits) / 5.6. They could go to the app, input their pit dimensions and at the bottom, it would give them their pit volume. I've got a whole book of calculations I would like to organize where they could do something like click Capacities -> Volumes -> Pit Volume. Or something like that, so they don't have to go through a list of 500 different selections to find the one they want. I hope I'm making sense here.

I don't mind spending a little money or anything to get this running either. I don't know if they make a App builder for dummies program where I can enter in my formulas and have it magically spit out an app for me, lol. Ok, maybe that's too much to expect. But point is, I don't mind spending money on a program that does everything I need it to do to get this app up and running.

Fred will sort it out for you! I can say it's absolutely possible to do what you want using Buzztouch. Good luck!

Boy I sure hope so. I am pretty good at computers I like to think anyways, ha ha ha. When I was 8 I had my first pretend computer that was able to run programs using Basic code. I picked it up extremely fast and by the end of the week I was able to write some pretty advanced programs using the basic language. In this case I just need to figure out where to get started. I'm sure there's programs out there that will convert an excel formula and table to javascript, that I can load into Buzztouch, and people that use the app can input their own numbers and get an answer. It should be pretty basic stuff really. I just don't know what kind of program I need, where to get it, and what to do with it, LOL.

I just bought a program called Web work sheet, they claim to be able to do what I want. I'll try it, and if it doesn't work, I'll see how good their money back guarantee is!

I think I might have found the answer! I was googling search terms like convert excel to javascript program, spreadsheet to javascript software, make html page with excel, etc. Well, I did another google term that was convert excel to interactive webform and I pulled up all kinds of different sites. I haven't looked at them all in detail, but it seems if you know the right google search term to use, there's lots of solutions out there.
