How do I create a data entry box in BT

Ok have spent 4 days trying to get my Android Development environment working - success at long last ( thanks Fred), can now see a basic BT app on the AVD. ..... Woohooo!! However, was looking through all of the BT screen type options and cannot find a screen type to capture data entry (regardless of how I want to process entered data - internal DB or web) Am I missing a trick, surely there is an option within BT to add simple control boxes or do I have to select a HTML screen and build data entry form manually in HTML........ Please say no, all that effort and I still need to code

You are on the right road, you'll be using an HTML screen. Don't fret though, there are a ton of form generation websites out there that will serve your needs. http://www.jotform.com/ is a good one and I've heard tell of and another popular one is - http://www.emailmeform.com/ Good luck!

Ah ok thanks MacApple, in order to get the most assistance from the BT gurus, I assume you experienced BT guys use jotform? I assume I integrate the HTML form in Eclipse then - if so any useful docs on BT forum to cover how this is done or do I have to go through the pain of more trial and error :(

Those that don't code themselves seem to lean towards jotform, yip. Just select your options on jotform site and add into a custom url page and you'll be good. Trial and error makes you a better man surely?

Lol yes I am not arguing with your last statement, my wife might ;). Alternatively I have used MS Frontpage in the past, am guessing I could simply build a form there and pinch the resulting HTML code??? Have read up a bit now on jotform, looks like it has to be linked to their web for data capture, I only want to use the HTML code an embed directly in my app and don't want to be tied to a subscription

By the way, once I have cracked this bit and built all my screens, I will want to create a database within the app itself ( not going web route) for data capture and subsequent manipulation and relay result back to a different screen - any decent docs on here to cover that or is that a non BT thing?

I hear you. MS Frontpage will do the trick for creating a form. There is a post on the forum somewhere about adding a DB to the project. You get the idea though, you needn't link to jotform you can change connection strings to write to your own DB. Load of forms out there in the interwebs that you can customise. You'll have to do a bit of work to get this going though. Nothing is beyond BT, very flexible and once you get around the idea of adding things into the BT architecture you'll be well on your way. Wish I could help with the DB integration, it's in my to do list.

I'm very impressed with Jotforms. SQL table insertions, it seems, are possible. Link: http://www.jotform.com/help/126-How-to-Insert-or-update-form-submissions-to-your-MySQL-database-using-PHP I never saw that in Weblo, or maybe just couldn't find it.

Nice one, good info. Shouldn't be too tricky to change the connection strings etc. Good man.

Hi MacApple - I have found a well written article about creating and using databases in Android http://www.devx.com/wireless/Article/40842/1954 I have created been able to create an local Android DB using this article but I am struggling with calling the DBAdapter class methods bit (but then again I have not created any forms yet).
