Allow/force screen rotation on ONE screen

Hi guys, Yes, I have posted this before, however I just wanted to clarify a few things that might give someone a few ideas as to how it could be achieved. Basically, one of our webpages that we have embedded in a URL page is designed to be in landscape mode. If we view it in portrait, it looks gross to be quite frank. So, we enabled rotations throughout the whole app through the BT menu, however, if you view other parts of the app in landscape, such as the main menu and our other pages, everything is formatted incorrectly and just looks plain weird. So, we were hoping that we could either allow the app to rotate, or force it to rotate, on just this URL page. Is it possible, with a bit of source code tweaking? Look forward to hearing from you guys :)

No one knows? That's got to be a forum first. What if I said I was willing to pay someone? :D

Hi Javoooooo, I'm in the same boat. See that more people would like a solution for this but yet no solution has come up. I also offered that I'm willing to pay for this but until today I haven't received any message. So I subscribe to this topic and hope (again) someone offers a solution. Best Regards, Danny

I really hope so too, Danny. Otherwise, I'm going to have to shelf my app until a solution is offered. Maybe if someone solved our issue they could get both our money? :D More motivation for someone to go figure it out, lol.

Hey Danny. Do you think we might be able to edit the code someone provided here to apply to one screen only? Just a wild guess. http://buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=BCC9AA11F0E9A3A6623CDD4&status=&searchInput=rotate&sortColumn=FT.dateStampUTC&sortUpDown=DESC¤tPage=1&doViews=1

Hi Javooo, I 've been busy with this for a lot of hours and can't find the answer. The post you're refering to handles the discussion about the rotation for the whole app --> app can rotate or app cannot rotate. I guess this was discussed before we had an option in the control panel that prevents or allows rotation. But important is, is that this is for the whole app and not a specific screen. For me this is a problem when you have your whole app in portrait mode and want to play a youtube movie. I only want to have the video in landscape mode. The best solution would be that we would have an option for every screen (in the advanced properties) to set it to portrait or landscape. In one post David said that it would be very hard to accomplish this. What needs to be done is: Find the id of the screen and connect it to the specific (landscape or portrait) mode If you have any idea's I'd love to hear them. Best Regards, Danny

Question, If you have an HTML Doc could you somehow rotate the text and images to right angle, but have the app think it's in Portrait mode?

Hi Danny- Any ideas as to how we'd go about connecting screens to specific modes? And Fred, I think that would be possible ith some schmancey HTML coding.

Hi Javooo, I (think I) know what has to be done - the workflow: in the advanced properties there has to be some checklist options Landscape or portrait and that choice should be written to the config file in json (I know how to do this) and then comes the big part in Xcode........what code and where..... but since I'm no programmer I can't implement the code. Someone else with the skills should do it. Best Regards, Danny

aha, unfortunately I'm no coder either. Anyone? I've unfortunately more or less given up. My only hope would be trying to implement some kind of rotation script on the actual website, but even then the formatting wouldn't be as perfect as the app rotating.

In fact, it looks like we have to implement some code like this: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/uikit/reference/UIViewController_Class/Reference/Reference.html How do we do it? no idea :P

It certainly might be of assistance. Unfortunately it's in French, and all the translators I've tried are pretty terrible :P Another reason why I should learn French I suppose.
