BuzztouchMods and BTServer ?

I really appreciate what Danny and David are doing wth BtMods but now I'm worried. I think they are really trying to help us all and I'll back them anyday but it seems that making plugins is just not as easy as it looks. I'm not using BTServer and third party plugins for the moment in production. But that will come soon. Reading the last posts, it seems to be better to avoid using unofficial plugins. What do you think ? Would it be possible for Buzztouch to validate external ressources ?

Buzztouch plugins are open to modifications by anyone so there's always going to be unapproved plugin. To me that's a strength. But, perhaps a verification service would be nice. Certainly there going to be a need for better beta plugins disclosure. With 60+ (and growing) Android platforms it's going to be even more difficult without some foresight.

Moving forward (when the new site launches), it's looking like we'll have a way to upload plugins and this upload process will do it's best to validate the uploaded package. This will solve some of the issues with third party code but will for sure not solve all of it. The key to this, we think, is our ability to better communicate how to create things. Step by step videos, docs, samples, etc. We'll get there.

Yep yep - we need to all work together. Thanks for the kind words Paddy, but what last posts are you talking about? Are you referring to the stability of unofficial plugins (errors, bugs, ect)? They developed the plugin system for exactly what me and Danny are doing ;) if you only use official plugins, that ruins the point of plugins! Third party plugins are just that - we test them vigorously before releasing, but there's always errors an bugs to be found both official and unofficial - there's minor risk - whats the worst that can happen? You can either gain a great new feature, or find out it doesn't work and not have it (unlikely!). Hope you understand what I mean! Way to go by the way, the server is a excellent way to progress. Take care, David. buzztouchmods.com
