Google Maps API & Eclipse Keytool Plugin

To obtain the Google Maps API Key you need the MD5 Fingerprint. There's two methods. Using the CMD line method is documented by GoNorthwest in his How-to guide found in the Buzztouch Help section. This How To is for those who wish to use the Keytool in Eclipse. Buzztouch & Google Maps (Android) using the Keytool in Eclipse

Technically we don't need either. Depends on what you're trying to do. If you can run the emulator, you have a debug key, to show Google Maps on the emulator using the Debug Key you need the Google Maps API DebugKey. In theory you could use the Release Key in the emulator, I just haven't tried. To run on your device you need the Release Key.

Have you modified the string file as described in the How-To guide?

in the read me file it says ABOUT GOOGLE MAPS: Before you can use map functions, you will need to obtain two Google Map API Keys, one for debugging, and one for release. After obtaining the API keys from Google (free), enter them in the res/values/strings.xml file in this project. so im reading it as ...in order to get the maps working i need two keys a debug key and a release key? are they the same keys? im confused #thanks in advnce
