Thankyou GoNorthWest and a .pdf problem

I have just created my first Android App using BT1.4 and your guides under the resources section. Just wanted to say thanks! It's an App to help junior (residents where your from) doctor induction in a new department. Quite simple - text, pdf links etc but hopefully effective! .............. Only problem I seem to be have is the App not loading the .pdf files - error is 'your device does not support .pdf files' I have tried this on both the Android 2.2 and 4.0 emulator with the same results. I understand BT 1.5 does not support .pdf at present but am using 1.4. My thought was that this was because the emulator does not have a pdf viewer pre-loaded but I can't seem to download this onto the emulators via the Android market as it says I do not have a device linked to my account. Any ideas? Will this still be a problem on an Android device? I do not have access to one at present to do a real test.

PDF files are supported in 1.5 In android it uses the app installed on the device to view those PDF's. Download a PDF Viewer from market. Many free ones out there. PDF's, Word DOcs and PPT all work. They do on my apps...

Big Shout out to GoNorthWest from me too! I just started working with my Android v1.5 app, and I was dreading it. His clear documentation on Android has saved me WEEKS of headaches! Big Thanks! Anyone just getting started needs to checkout the resources section: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/ Best Regards, Brian-

Hi, Thanks for the shoutout! Glad the docs are helpful! Please don't hesitate to let me know of improvements if you find some! As mentioned above, PDF is not supported in v1.4, but is in v1.5 and BT Server. However, your emulator will need some sort of plugin in order to view them...I've not been successful in getting that to work yet, so if somebody does, let know! Thanks, Mark

This seems to suggest that installing a PDF reader in the emulator is easy? Haven't tried it. http://www.dotnetexpertsforum.com/display-pdf-in-emulator-using-pdf-viewer-in-android-t2526.html

@Fred - Yes I'm using the 1.5 and also BT Server PDF screen. Both are working fine for me. On the android device I use Office Suite Pro.

Sorry. I'm full of crap... The PDF does not work on 1.5 for Android. I checked and I recall now that I changed them to Google docs to get around that issue. Does not work on the device or the emulator. But IOS works just fine.... Sorry for making you think I had some Magic.... :)

Hey, I still believe in the Easter Bunny, but that's only because I met the Easter Bunny last year, and I got pictures to prove it. Fred

The only solution I've found is converting to HTML or link via url.

Here is an odd thing with .pdf in v1.4. I have loaded .apk to EVO. I can't get them to work if they are in an rss feed. I also can't get them to work if clicking in the rss feed opens web page where .pdf link is located. I CAN get them to work if loaded as .pdf file through pdf menu in development on here.

Another option is load your documents into Google docs PDF, Excell Word....
