Another noob needing advice. Can an app designed using android sdk be used on an ipad or does it have to be ios?

Here's the issue. I am not particularly an apple fan and would prefer to design apps which can be accessed on tablets - also the android sdk is free and ios is not (typical apple!). However, some of the people who might want to access the apps I design are already using ipads, so which is the best way to go? The ios developer program has a yearly cost and i don't want to commit to paying it if it is not necessary as I am just trying the whole thing out at the moment to see if the ideas I have will work.

To pay Apple or not to pay, that's the question. To have an app installed on an idevice, you'll have to pay Apple or Depend on the user to jailbreak their device (not likely, except for certain groups, think students and programers) or creat a web app. Web app work with all devices since their basically just links to the internet. My suggestion is play with Android first then, worry about Apple. With the passing of Steve Jobs, Apple is now free to implement features that were block by him and you may see some amazing development on how Apple deals with developers. Right now Apple is coasting on their headstart over Android and Windows, but Android's open source model is seriouly impacting Apple. Windows7 mobile os just out of the gate, and way behind of Apple and Android but it's probably a better platform if they could get the knowledge base that Apple and Android has. Time will tell. So, go with Android and be Happy!

Wales is it? Love the country. Welcome! I hear what you are saying, keeping costs low at start is crucial and why spend cash you don't have to. The apps you make on here will run on both platforms, phones and tablets across both as well, one of the beauties of this tool / platform. So even if you don't decide right now you can easily setup an Apple Dev account down the road. It's hard to ignore the tablet with the biggest market share though but things change on this crazy interweb daily. Plenty of people on here just do Android and vice versa. You'll be well supported no mater what route you decide on. Ps Get on the early adopter program from your control panel, it's a must with far more powerful

Hi MacApple, maybe you can answer this question by a n00b ;) - As an early adopter it says Because you're on our Early Adopter list, the assumption is that you are able to run the iOS simulator on your Mac computer. - But I'm only interested in building Android apps and I don't have a Mac.. Am I still able to build apps in v1.5 or not?? Thanks in advance - sam

Morning. You can still build v1.5 apps for Android, yes. You can view the change log to see what is in v1.5 - http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/ It isn't as complete as 1.5 for iOS as the site moves towards the BT Server solution with plugins. Won't go into that here, load of threads on it. Have fun!
