I worked through all that by searching several different sites. Thanks for a concise source for all of it. Your post led me to connect a few dots. But I still have a few more to connect. For example, I didn't have to modify the Manifest, Why? I did modify the res>layout>screen_locationmaps.xml android:apiKey=@string/googleMapsAPIKeyDebug modified to: android:apiKey=@string/googleMapsAPIKeyRelease But I'm getting a your device does not appear to be reporting it's location when I try to get directions. If you're using it in your android device, be sure your settings allow your location to be found. In your App>Core Properties, be sure the Start tracking Location (turn on GPS) is set to Yes Start GPS on launch.
