first time on actual iphone problem

So I downloaded the latest compiled code from the buzztouch site, put all the docs I use in the BT_DOCS folder, then dragged them into Xcode. Ran it on the simulator first, all OK. Immediately ran it on my iphone, and lots of stuff is missing, and lots are there. My home screen image is missing, just a big ? appears. And when I open many of my htm files, I ge the message that data for the screen has not been downloaded etc. Yet all files were added to downloaded folder and then dragged over to Xcode. I know I must be missing something simple. Please help. Thanks

Hi Steve, If your home screen image is local as well, it needs to be in the BT_Images folder, as does any other image in your project. You also might want to run a Clean on your project, and delete any previous version of the app off your phone, before you load it again. Also...it sounds like you might, but make sure you have the latest copy of your BT_Config.txt file in your project. Finally...review this doc to make sure you hit all the points : http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf Mark

Actually, one thing I just noticed is that the files the iphone doesn't see were somehow changed in the downloads folder to names with all uppercase. Dont understand why the case would matter in the phone, but not in the simulator. Steve

That's pretty weird. Also make sure that there are no spaces or special characters in the filename. Mark

Mark, Nope, the only thing that's different about the names, is that everything is uppercase. I changed one to all lowercase and now the iphone sees it. Yet, again, the simulator sees all the upper case ones. BTW, I found the image so that's not a problem. I guess I'll just go and change all these names (48 of them, though I guess I should be glad its not more - I have over 100 htm files)> Steve

Almost there, but now the htm files show the text, but the images are replaced by placeholders, again just on the iphone, not in the simulator. The htm images for, say, example.htm, are kept in local folder example_files. In the folder are the images and they certainly are there in xcode and in my download folder. Any idea why they won't show up in the ipnone and yet do in the simulator? Steve

Images need to go into BT_Images....not in BT_Docs, even if you reference them as if they were in the same folder. So, move them over, copy to Xcode, Clean, Build and go! Mark

Mark, I should have mentioned, that the images are only missing from the files that were at one time named with all caps. Most of the other files show up fine, and the image folders are in the BT_DOCS file. So it's not the location, it's got to be something else. It's just a small subset of files that don't show up the images, but again just on the iphone, not in the simulator. Steve

Well, all images should be in BT_Images, and all HTML files should be in BT_Docs. It doesn't matter how you reference the images in your html...you can even put them in folders in BT_Images, and BT will find them. No spaces in the names, and no special characters. For Eclipse, I think they all have to be in lower case, so keep that in mind if you are developing for both. Can you provide list of the image names that are not showing up so we an see what the similarities might be? Mark

I think I've found a solution. In the example_files folder that is associated with the example.htm file, there is a file called filelist.xml The references to the example.htm are all in uppercase here. I went to one file, changed all the references to lower case and low and behold, the iphone shows them. Tomorrow I'll change them all. Still don't know why xcode cares if we use upper or lower and moreover why it doesn't care in the simulator, just in the device. I wonder if there's some device setting in xcode I'm missing. Steve

Very weird, but I'm glad you found a solution! Mark
