Curious about what happens to our apps

Im just wondering aloud here. What happens to our apps if buzz touch goes down or goes under? I mean I suppose it's safe to conclude that we wouldn't be able to update them through bzztouch but what else could theoretically happen? And I'm wondering why is it free? I mean when if at all should we expect to be charged to use this service?

The source code can be modified if you know what to/ how to. Buzztouch will be around because it's open source, so not much to worry about. There's been a few post discussing their business model, there may be some advertising. Early Adopter may be grandfathered in. Valid questions, but no worry, be happy. Fred

I think it is always a valid concern when buzz touch is such a powerful tool, however my experience of buzz touch so far is that its more than a tool. It has a viable organic community which David et al are integrated part of that have encouraged you to delve deeper than just the front end. There are no entrapped areas where you cant view or utilize the code that they have set up. For me its nice to be involved in something that's finding a business model that involves consultation and a evolving need.

Still not sure what 'grandfathered in' means, or the implications of it.

I think grandfathered means you get free toffee and never anything bad said about your coding :)

so we never did get a response from BT about this? forward thinking is key. making sure this app i deploy and then distribute is fully functional and maintain-able by me until i decide i'm done with it - is the last thing that is stopping me from submitting it and deploying it. and for sure, logging in one day and what was once FREE is now $9.99 per month is not a GOTCHA i want to experience again. remember OOMA? that used to be free. now if you want your OOMA line to have standard features like Caller ID - you have to pay $9.99 a month + they hit you for taxes now. no one survives giving anythign away for Free now. How is BT going to remain? and yeah - i hate when they muck up an original like Werthurs. Leave it alone. Remember new Coke? Exactly. Do we really need 10 different varieties of Doritos or Cheetos?

YES! We do need 10 varieties of Doritos. In a previous post David @ Buzztouch discusses advertising on the Forums, so perhaps that's how they'll monetize. There's many ways for Buzztouch to monetize some we can possibly envision, some that are kept in Buzztouch's secret vault protected by roving bands of armed guards. As this is beta many questions remain unanswered, and many questions haven't been encountered. My first computer was a Sinclair (2 k or 4 k, I forget), quickly followed by a Apple (don't think it was an Apple I, just an Apple). Soon followed by Compaq Portable (no harddrive). I seen alot and Buzztouch is certainly one of the best I've seen. Perhaps one of the reasons Buzztouch hasn't posted on this issue is that the time osby not right, or perhaps they're letting us flesh out the issue, or maybe they just missed this post (but David @ Buzztouch is sorta like Santa & Elvis, he knows everything we do & say, believe me, he said so in a previous post). As for Waking Up One Day, Buzztouch has said any apps created will always be free if created as such. You maynot be able to create new free apps (But that's not decided, especially if advertising pans out.) So, I say, Don't worry, Be App Happyness. :-)

I think the best way to view a situation is to look at past habits of someone. To me BT is an entity and it has shown great character, it habits are this open, consultative, collaborative and friendly. These habits would not lead to any adverse opportunistic money making. I am more concerened that BT does make money one way or another so that this great service keeps going. PS werthers is pure filling Territory while chilli Doritos are more addictive than hard drugs
