I have a similar mismatch between iOS and Android on emulator and test device in that a custom URL results in page loading but the spinner keeps spinning leaving me without the ability to access controls or interact with the screen. Emulator is API 8 and platform is 2.2. Everything else seems to work well but not the blog page. I see the same behaviour in Galaxy Mini running 2.21, kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf build no Froyo.xwke3.

Just to add that I can load some custom URLs in emulator and test device. The main one that struggles is the mobilised version of the blog. In the emulator if I hit the search button the progress indicator stops and I can interact with the page again. Facebook works, Twitter works and individual pages from the blog work.

There is a temporary fix for this, hold the menu button down for 2 secs, then if nothing happen, try doing it again, it works for me.

We'll get a look at this tomorrow sometime (middle of the night here). In the meantime, here's what I know without looking at any actual project source-code (just notes)... For v1.5 Android apps, have a look at the /src/BT_screen_webView.java file. This is the Android Activity that loads for Custom URL Screens. BT_screen_customHTML.java handles the Custom HTML / Text screens. They both use the same logic. Browse through this for two methods. showProgress and hideProgres. showProgress should display when the page is loading (this is what shows the spinning wheel). Hide progress is what turns off the wheel. For sure in the cases mentioned here the hideProgress method is not firing. In 99% of the cases where this happens it's on web pages and URL's that contain NO image. Android's famous for not automatically firing the built in onPageFinished method which is the method we use to trigger the hideProgress wheel. Have a look at BT_screen_webView.java to see this on line 161. You can see the image method on line 526, it's called MyPictureListener Because Android is notorious for sometimes not firing this, we use a workaround to also fire the hideProgress method when all the images are done loading (images in the HTML). This works awesome IF there are images in the HTML. If there are no images it gets unreliable. I'll dig into this when I get a chance tomorrow. To turn is off completely just look for all ocurrances of showProgress and comment them out ;-)

Certainly commenting out works. It seemed to be in the customHTM file rather than the web view file that made the spinner disappear just for your information. I have to say that Android seems a pretty inferior platform, Buzztouch works so well with iPhone and iPad.

Hi Carlos in Spain: Can you post the URL to the webpage that you're trying to load. The one that shows the spinner that won't go away. My previous post explained what the fix is (commenting out the showProgress() method but you should not have to do that. If you post the URL I'll be able to see the HTML and maybe figure out what's happening.

Hey David@BT - I've run into the same issue with BT server. For now, I've commented out the showProgress lines, and it seems to be working fine. Just wondering if you were able to look into this and find a more elegant solution. Thanks for all you do!
