Duplicate mysql records in BT server 2.0, to duplicate app?

I read through prior posts about duplicating apps. Wondering if there might be some way to use an *external* mysql tool, that could copy and adjust the appropriate rows, to create duplicate apps. This is pretty important for BT server, in my view, because then we could provide new users with 3-4 starter apps, like templates, that they can start with when they first log in to BT Server. Any thoughts?

That might work if you could adjust the buzztouchAppId, and probably come up with new itemId's for the various JSON objects that make up the different screens. Would be very interesting to hear what we're missing in this thought...most of what determines the app behavior and appearance is defined in the BT_config file, and as long as all the IDs are unique, I would think you could duplicate them in the manner you suggest. Will be interesting to hear from BT on this! Mark

Yes something like that. I'm speculating that the config.txt file is created based on a set of rows (header rows, icon rows, line rows, etc) in the MYSQL database. For the BT Server 2.0 I have to assume that each user has a UserID of some sort tagged on each row set, and then each app has an AppId which is also tagged in those rows. Sorry BT Guys, if I'm mangling your design. :)

I am interested in this topic, I think it will be a great idea to have starter kits for different industries. Initially, I was thinking of creating apps that I just duplicate but it seems like that might be tedious...

I just recently released a tool to backup your self hosted servers if your messing with mysql too much ;) http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=6C3F7BE489E3A4E3AE7834E I think my next project will be a duplicate feature.. @GoNorthWest as usual your posts are very insightful to this.
