How to create a button with no action attached to it? (iOS and Android)

Hi, I asked this question in a different topic, but I think the answer could be of public interest, so I'm asking it again in here. Is there a way to make a button that will have no action attached to it so pressing on it will do nothing? Thanks for any ideas, Vali

Create and Image that appears to be buttons, only create hot spots for certain button. Or Create HTML doc with buttons, some with links/actions, others without. Ist it possible to have and HTML button launch a BT screen/plugin? But, you're correct, it would be nice to have silent buttons.

Hi Fred, Your point would be very good if we could link HTML to BT screens. That would be awesome. But since this is hard as it involves tinkering with Xcode I need to create a button canvas, put an image under it and trigger only the buttons that are over the parts of the image that looks clickable. (transparent buttons)

I just noticed that the Gallery Plugin has been released (Yeah!), since I'm Android we haven't been privileged to use Gallery in BTv1.5, hence I'm not familiar how the gallery works. Can you link to an image in a gallery tile?

Can't you just make a button that calls its own menu? If not, you could create 2 menus of buttons that look the same and have a button on each that calls the other menu... Not sure why you'd want this, except maybe as a placeholder for future developments or as a place to start writing code in xcode, but you seem averse to that in the above comments.

Good idea, but not working as expected as the top bar menu will slide to reveal the same text as the menu you are in and the refresh button is replaced by the back button. As for the reason, as I explained above, imagine a button menu filled with buttons. Let's say 3 by 4 to fill the whole screen. They are transparent and beneath them there is the background shaped into an interface. I only want to click on the buttons that really are above something in the background that is clickable. The others should have no actions set to prevent the user to go to different pages. Think of the clickable buttons as hotspots over the background.

I think you are gonna need to look in the menuButtons.m file in Xcode...what about a background image and the transparent buttons do the work?

This is the idea, but in order to have the interface not look like a table and have the hot spots randomly positioned I will for sure have some extra menu buttons that I will not need and don't know what to do with them

Not a perfect solution, I've deleted the linked screen from BT, so by clicking the button, the app says, no screen attached or something like that.

Please do share :) Yes, I only need some buttons to not do anything. And only the ones over the area of interest should remain active.

hey guys.. I have a work around that my be useful in my app I want to show a background image as non selectable text, I make a menu item called blank with all settings set to 'clear' and the first six lines of the row height menu set to '2'.. this makes the screen visible with the background image visible, with one menu item called blank that is un-selectable.. you could use a similar idea to fake some buttons phil

@Vali are you still working on this? i just managed to get my own custom button up on a screen as a 'my first plug-in' under iOS. very basic but right now it is essentially a button on the screen with no action assigned to it! i'm able to move it anywhere on the screen using the co-ordinates in Xcode. these are UIButtons, not BT buttons. i'm hammering away right now trying to manually assign an action to it and just happened to see this post in my search.
