Look at the BT_screen_quiz.java file error with 1.5

The complete error says: Open Eclipse Look at the BT_screen_quiz.java file I added a quiz page. I don't see any errors in the build in eclipse, and there is not sign of a problem until you run the emulator and navigate to the quiz page. I went back and added one question thinking perhaps that is what it needed, but twas not the answer I sought. I did open the file, and I did look at it, and it didn't fix it. ;O)

Quiz screen does not work in 1.5. When it says look at the T_screen_quiz.java file, it means, that is the file you need to write code for to make it work. There are a number of screens for 1.5 that have not been completed. Not sure if they will because of the focus on BT Server. There are numerous threads about this.

Rats. When I was asking about this for BT server, on how to implement a quiz for that, David said I should sign up for early adopter so I could see/use 1.5. I took that to mean, that is worked there. I've thought I've seen mention of others having the quiz work.

@jeffb: Crap, I didn't realize you were Android. My bad. If you're patient, you could hack around with the v1.4 Android quiz and try to get it to work in v1.5. Depending on your perspective, it's either a few hours of fun sleuthing or 100% impossible and totally frustrating! The Quiz plugin is 'next' on our list after we complete the image gallery plugin. Image gallery is coming along nice (done for iOS, funky still on Android) and when it's done we'll be moving directly onto the quiz. Both of these screens are super popular. When we do these they will be improved a bit and made specifically for the BT plugin setup so we can't simply hack-through the existing v1.4 quiz like I suggested you could. You can do this because the methods are pretty easy to understand and dragging around some images, layout files, etc. for ONE project (yours) is a totally different thing than us making a quiz plugin that is flexible, useful across thousands of apps, etc. Totally get it if you're not up for this but wanted you to know that nothing here is rocket science or magic, it's just a matter of getting some .java, .xml layout files, and .img drawables to play nice together ;-)

I'm going to be patient and wait for the plugin. You are talking about a plugin for BT Server correct? I've seen the nifty stuff within 1.5 like photos in the quiz and such, and that looks like it will be well worth waiting for. A question about that though. Do I understand the plugins correctly, that if a guy was to go ahead and make an app, and distribute it, that once a plugin becomes available, and you utilize it within your respective control panels, that the function becomes available on the phones that have the app installed? Or will the new additions require a recompilation of the source code?

I believe if an app is in distribution and you add a plugin, the app would need to be recompiled for the new material to become available to the app user. That's because the new plugin screens need to be added to the file. Other changes that you make in your control panel (ie. changing a custom url, or modifying custom html) will be automatically available. Make sense?

@MGoBlue has it right. Because 99% of all new plugins will require additional Objective C and Java class files and supporting resources, apps will require updates if they want to add new screens that didn't exist when they originally compiled the binary. One thing to keep in mind, and a major reason for this design.... updates via the app store are GOOD from an end users perspective. A bit inconvenient for the developer, perhaps. But, we think it's important that all apps are updated from time-to-time (in the app stores) for a few reasons such as; End users usually like seeing app improvements over time and the update required badge from the app store is the defacto standard way of saying 'this app is not dead, stale, and old, it's being improved on consistently' New iOS / Android SDK's. When Apple and Google update things they appreciate (and sometimes require) apps that are updated to support their latest work. Adding a new feature and updating your binary (app) shows that you are embracing change to a reasonable level. This is a very important concept that many developers overlook. Apple and Google work very hard to improve things on their end and developers that embrace this change earn some unofficial brownie points ;-) It's just a good idea. Keeping up with your app is tough. It's OK to compile, submit, forget about it and all should be find if you take this approach. But, having an intimate understanding of the apps inner workings and current status (version, features, etc) is always a good idea. Adding and improving a few things here n there is a great way to stay fresh and keep your app top-of-mind. It's very very easy to find yourself way behind when you open an app project after months of neglect. Funny how that works. It's tough sometimes to get up-to-speed on the app if you don't do this on a regular basis. Updates help with this. Lastly, because we know first hand that most new app developers don't understand this stuff, but will eventually, and because we think the items mentioned above are important, we've engineered the plugin process to help with all of this. Get an app running, get it launched. Add things and improve things (by way of plugins) over time and keep that thing hummin' along.

I'm looking forward to the BT_screen_quiz.java file for android too! I'm finding a problem linking to the header image urls too - in both my emulator and tablet (Lenovo A1_07, 2.3.4) after compiling under Google 2.2.
