Uploading app with someones elses cert (iOS)

Hello, I've basic programming skills (cough-very basic, just about able to figure out how to build & publish an app with xcode). Now I am helping a friend to make an app. I have my own dev account with apple all set up on my MAC, he has his own dev account, set up on his MAC. I am going to compile & then submit his app for him to apple, using his dev account. 1. I've been trying to do this on his MAC, and while it was all running smoothly, now I get an error when I try to run in the emulator (SIGABRT, see other thread) so am running out of ways to solve it. 2. I guess it is possible to down his: dev cert app provising file and then use both of those to codesign his app on my MAC, and from that upload to Apple from my MAC. BUT!! It took ages to get my account working fine on my mac and I am very wary of trying to run a second account, in case it messes up my account. Anyone tried? It is as simple as download his certs & provisioning file, select the right codesign options on my MAC for him, and Bob's your Uncle, or do things get more difficult?? THANK YOU! :D Elaine.

Hi @elaine, hoping the holiday was good, ours was (still is, traveling all week!). Yes, Bob's your Uncle is the idea. I guess that means lickity-split, all is well. Soooo funny, never ever heard that expression but will totally be using it. I wouldn't worry too much about ruining your account on your machine, not really related. You have the right idea and this does work. Oh, incidentally, the SIGBART issue isn't related to certs or provisioning so you should be able to just Clean and Build the project (menu option) to get rid of this error. Cleaning the project can do wonders sometimes. back to dual identities: Before I ramble a bit more, here's good discussion about this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/660798/multiple-iphone-developer-accounts-on-one-mac What I do (done this bunches of times) is to.... a) Have your friend invite you to join his 'team' in his Apple dev account. Account holders can add teammates that can login and manage their account. b) Accept this invitation (email) and you'll be able to log into your account and their account. When you login (after accepting the invitation), you'll have some choices on the Apple Dev Account login screen. When I log into the Apple Dev Site with my SINGLE apple id (same id always), I get a drop-down list that shows me all the teams I'm allowed to work with. It's very very long because I've been added as a developer by many many clients that have their own Apple Account. I choose an account, then whammo, Bob's your Uncle and I'm in! Did I use that right? LOL. c) When working in Xcode, be very very sure you are logged into the proper account at Apple. Always use the logout button. When you use the Upload Binary tools you'll also need to make sure you are associating the binary with the proper account. It's hard to find in Xcode Organizer but you can 'logout' of the Apple site then log back in. I think this is needed whe you get to the upload process. This has nothing to do with downloading certs and profiles, that's all done with the browser and the certs and profiles are added to Xcode. Side note: Like all the accounts I have access to, I also have literally hundreds of provisioning profiles in my Xcode organizer. This is because for each client that I 'help' a new provisioning profile is needed. More than one in most cases, one for developing and one for releasing. When I compile and app, I must always make sure (did I say make sure?) that the proper provisioning profile is associated with the app I'm working on. No worries, get cozy with it, it gets easier.

Hi David, Glad you like Bob ;) Hope you had a lovely Christmas & took some time off! I cleaned the build, shut down the PC, took out the images with the .JPG, put back in ones that said .jpg, found two somehow corrupted images in xcode, replaced those, booted the whole thing up again and it worked fine. Thanks very much for the info above, I'm pretty sure it'll be invaluable :D Best of luck for everything in 2012, and if you ever need help setting up an EMEA office in Dublin, tech capital of the European world I'm your man! Cheerio from Bob, and a lot of horses! Elaine.

Dublin, dreamy. SO DOWN for doing something exactly like this. Dunno when, dunno how, but for sure we'll be beating your door down (or stable) when the time comes. Probably a visit is in order. Hmm...can't be too expensive to get the Dublin can it? Love this idea. Catcha sooner or later. d.
