Java 6 or 7 Any Difference

Anyone have and opinion regarding which version to use? Any pros or cons? Fred

There's probably no real difference except for whatever you see in the changelogs. From our perspective...Java 6 would most likely be just as good as Java 7. Important thing to keep in mind is that we need the JDK instead of the JRE in order to compile apps. Here's a list of changes : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_version_history Mark

Software updates aren't like movie sequels. The new one is almost always better. The only reason not to update would be fear of compatibility issues (which are usually well documented).

The one major caveat would be in moving from one major version to another, like 6.x to 7.0 - it's well known that the first iteration of a version change is usually the most major and most unstable! Mark

Sort of like being a penguin, sharks, of course there's no sharks, SHARKS! But have anyone found a useful tool/features, that would compel one to upgrade from 6 to 7?
