Adding Twitter # into RSS feeds

Merry Christmas Folks - Hope the yuletide is rocking. Has anyone had success in using the RSS feed to follow a subject on twitter? I have been able to follow a user using an API, but haven't had success in doing a subject, like #energy. This article does a nice job on how to do it on a website: http://chronicle.com/blogs/profhacker/hacking-an-rss-feed-for-twitter-hashtags/35895 However, when I cut & pasted his example into the RSS feed page it didn't come through: http://chronicle.com/blogs/profhacker/hacking-an-rss-feed-for-twitter-hashtags/35895 Any thoughts?

I used the twitter widget, copied the code into a custom html (after using the source button). All I get is a blank screen when I exectute the button. Thanks
