Thinking out loud about Android Audio vs custom URL for 1.5 or 2.0

I understand that the audio streaming functionality is not yet available for android but wouldnt the workaround be the same thing if I did a custom URL screen and linked it to my server where the http//:.mp3 file lives and run it. I did this same technique for iOS and it worked like a charm. Ran the same method for Android and it did not. The Android custom URL screen with the .mp3 file is giving me a compose message screen. Any thoughts? Anthony

Hi Anthony, Maybe try embedding the audio file in an HTML page using HTML 5. I believe the compose message screen displays because your android device doesn't know what to do with the file, as it was expecting some sort of webpage.

Hey Parker, First things First, Thank you for that beautiful picture book of Monterey Ca. It looks great out there. A Lil different than NYC. LOL. Anyways, thank you for the response but,I have no clue as to where i would even start with HTML5. I thought i would be able to go to where the file resides on the server hit page source, copy, save as, and whallla. But didnt happen. I am assuming it didnt because the tag end with .mp3. Any thoughts on what to do? Anthony

You're Welcome! Well it sounds like a good time to learn then. HTML 5 is basically just the latest version of HTML, the markup language used to create webpages. It's a pretty easy language to understand. w3schools has a bunch of small tutorials and reference on all of the different tags. Head over there for the basics on HTML. ( http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp ) Once you understand a few of the concepts have a look at the HTML 5 <audio> tag. http://www.w3schools.com/html5/html5_audio.asp
