where to get the standard buzztouch icons download for the buzz server?

You know how we can choose icons for tabs ect, where are those EXACT icons available for download so we can put them into our empty images folder for buzz server? (Its too bad this was not included in as default) :( Any help - greatly appreciated! David.

You can pull it from an older v1.5 project. They are all included....

Yeah, it would be nice to get a set included in the server download. However, they are not ours to distribute in this manner. We could probably 'get away with it' but feel better that you guys upload your own icons. Another huge improvement here would be to allow 'shared graphics' across multiple apps so you don't have to re-upload an icon pack for each new app. Same goes for other assets, it makes sense that they would be useable for more than one app. On the wish list.

Wait, we need to re-upload our icons for each app? That would REALLY suck if thats what you just said xD I added the icons in /Images/Icons/, however in the app, the icons almost over take the entire buttons (IE they are showing up huge rather then normal)... trying to figure out why this is happening. I see - so its to protect buzztouch - creating your own set would fix this, but probably painstakingly long and tedious. Thanks for the info David. David.

This is what I did: I took the Icons File and added the entire folder to my downloaded project in /Images/ (and in the panel added icons by name accordingly). This is what I get: http://postimage.org/image/r7in6j961/ Extremely enlarged! Any idea why and or how to fix this? Thanks.

Seems strange for sure. 'reupload the icons for each app.' Yes, the file manager is per-app. Intentionally. You're welcome to re-create another method that serves you better if this 'sucks' to bad. Back to sizes, open one of the icons in your browser, are they huge? Shouldn't be. If they are you'll need to re-sizet them or find a different set to upload.

I did not mean to say it like that, I meant, It will take some time getting used too :) The icon in the browser looks fine :( They are the same icon sets from buzz website, they worked fine in the app from buzztouch, but not the buzz server version. There shoud be no difference at all, for some reason, the app just blows them up! Hmmm...

I get it, not trying to bust your chops, just being literal, that's all. Sometimes ya gotta work out your own magic ;-) So, this is strange. If the icons looks the same in the browser (the ones you have on your server and the ones you have from an older bt v1.5 project) then something for sure is up. Here's the even weirder thing, there is NOT A PLACE on the bt-server Button Menu plugin to enter an icon. In other words, how the heck are you setting up icons in a button menu with this plugin? This plugin is intentionally without these. Lots of folks are confused with the difference between the image and the icon (when it comes to buttons). So, I'm totally confused now. If you're using the plugin on the bt-server version, setup button image (not icons). If you're using bt v1.5, then this isn't related.

Ah, wait, that explains it! You're using icons that are smaller than the button box so the plugin is expanding them to fit the box. The idea is that the image will be bigger than the box. So laughing. You can adjust this easiy. Back up for a minute: The older version had an image AND an icon. The icon went on top of the image. This plugin has only the image, no icon. Phew, confusing. Open up the Button plugin class file in iOS. This is the BT_button_view.m file in the buttons plugin folder (after you download). Look for this line: UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFill. Should be around line 137 or so. Set the content mode to 'center' or one of the other options listed here: UIViewContentModeScaleToFill, UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit, UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFill, UIViewContentModeRedraw, UIViewContentModeCenter, UIViewContentModeTop, UIViewContentModeBottom, UIViewContentModeLeft, UIViewContentModeRight, UIViewContentModeTopLeft, UIViewContentModeTopRight, UIViewContentModeBottomLeft, UIViewContentModeBottomRight, I'll bet UIViewContentModeCenter works best in this case.

I had to re-read your post multiple times to grab the concept haha - UIViewContentModeCenter worked perfectly - yes I was setting images, not icons, I just assumed icons would be the name of sort for the images in the buttons (like you said people get confused). Server has been giving me many headaches since I switched over from these small changes you all made ;p It would be cool to see some sort of documentation over the differences so maybe I can avoid headaches in the future if you guys have tweaked anything else that I havent found out yet ;p It will be a little frustrating having to edit xcode code every time I do app updates with button menu's, I already have to update the BT_Art to get rid of the white text you guys added (not sure why you guys did not just leave these black as normal?) and the Icons for every update, the server makes you do lots of manual work :( (This is not a complaint) Perhaps... I can update the images (icons) from buzz to have more space by width and height, that way it can be displayed as normal, but wont look enlarged... I'll just have to find out how I can mass do this to all of the icons, there is probably a program to do this with online. Thanks for looking into this David, greatly appreciated! David.

Not taken as complaints, totally get it. White text: Where? Not sure what you mean? Server updates: It takes a deeper understanding than most folks realize to run server-side .php apps. Everyone things it's easy (thaks to WordPress that has spent 11 years perfecting their web app) but it's not easy at all. It's major thing. We're amazed everyday at the number of folks that claim to 'understand server's' and php and mysql when really they don't. Most folks basically hack their way around thinking it's easy when it's not. Bottom line is, self-hosted is tough and a PRO is necessary to understand it all. We totally hope for the day when it's magic and just works without having to 'know anything' but that days a long way away. Update Xcode: It's kinda like the previous idea. The plugins should work as they are designed. If they don't, and you want to do something different, you'll need to create a new plugin or hack around in the one that you're working with. That's kinda the whole idea. But, like the previous thought, very very few folks understand how to write Objective C and creating your own plugins is much harder than we make it sound. It's a bitch. The change log lists some basic changes but for sure there will always be some that don't get spotted. Fundamentally, the package has not changed at all since it's release. Some typos, some syntax errors, etc. for sure. But, the file structure, and general idea has remained the same. If you're having trouble getting new versions to work then something else is up - I think? Done for the night.. Thx as usual for the insights...VERY HELPFUL.

Yeah - I know nothing of the internal workings of buzz, I can bet its as hard as you say. The white text fake splash screens that appear with buzz server apps: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=42FD1A4DE3C03205089B875&status=&searchInput=search...&sortColumn=FT.dateStampUTC&sortUpDown=DESC¤tPage=1&doViews=1 ^ very annoying, seems like making developers do unnecessary work (unless there was a good reason to add this text into it). 2:20AM here, been working on the server for a few hours, I am tired too :( again, thanks for the help. I have just copied the new BT_button_view.m, and will replace the old one every time I do a app update/download, will make things much faster then editing it all the time. :) If you can take a look at the fake splash screen issue, that would be awesome too! Take care, David

Hey grand idea here! I was just thinking, If I throw this new updated BT_button_view.m file into the BT_screen_menuButtons/source-ios/ folder, would it always have the new button view file when downloading new apps (thus eliminating me having to replace the old file with the new one you helped me make?). David.

Exactly! Now you're getting it. You could also copy the entire folder and make an entirely new plugin if you wanted.

This is exciting! Maybe I will tinker more with these files and make a plugin worth downloading for others! Thanks David!
