H daku7, There are a few videos in the 'Help' section of this website that should show you the basic ropes with xcode and v1.5. Might be a slightly different version in the videos but xcode still works basically the same way. You can also find guides for the app submittal process in the iOS/Apple Developer Center. For example here is one on Code Signing for iOS: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#technotes/tn2250/_index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/DTS40009933 Also, Mark has been very helpful and made a bunch of guides for everyone. :D A few can be found at: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/ When he finishes his new guide we'll post it up there for everyone to use.

Is it absolutely necessary to submit the apps to an app store in order to distribute it? If I understand procedures correctly, anytime I want to update my business app I have to start all over with getting approval from these app stores??? I may be updating daily. Thanks,

Hi CBreeze, All depends. Generally speaking, for iOS apps you will need to go through the app store for the initial install of the app on any device. Once an app is in the store you can make changes to the app through the control panel which will notify the end user that an update is available. This sort of update will work as long as it doesn't involve the changing, adding, or removal of embedded files. If embedded files are edited then you will need to recompile your app and submit an update to the app store. For Android, you can ad your app to the Android market, or just throw it up on the web anywhere you can. As long as a user can browse to the apps location, they should be able to install it. Updates will work the same way. So depending on the content of your app you will need to decide if it is best to embed the content, or host it remotely, or if it a basic update that can be made through the control panel without needing to worry about updating.

Thanks for your help Parker. I'm a little blurry about which files are the embedded ones??? For example, I'm sure a merchants location and telephone number isn't likely to change very often, but they may want to send out hourly, daily or weekly announcements. Which menu page would that frequent change be compatible with where I don't have to go back through the Apple App Store approval process? Thanks,

I got to thinking, and maybe the buzztouch hosted apps are the ones that can't be changed and the BT Server (the ones I host on my own domain) are the ones that can????

Hi, There are actually numerous ways you can do this, and none of them require a submission to iTunes Connect: * Create a Custom HTML/Text screen for your information. Then you edit it from your Control Panel each time you want to change it. This screen is fetched from the BT server each time the screen is loaded, so it'll always be up to date. * Create an HTML Document, PDF, Word, Excel, or Custom URL screen, and have that link to an external document somewhere. That way, each time the screen is loaded, the info is pulled from wherever the URL points to. You could create an HTML document that resides on your DropBox public folder, and when you make changes, they show up in your app. * Create a screen that links to a URL that executes a script which creates dynamic content. Change the background content, and when the script is executed, the user gets the latest stuff. * Create a v1.4 app, where the whole thing is online. Anytime you make changes in your Control Panel, the changes are reflected in the app. The only time you need to submit an update to Apple is when you add local content...images, documents, etc, that reside on the device, and that are not pulled from the network. Having screens that update when a user opens the app doesn't require an update to Apple...it's like any news app or other dynamic content app that you might have. Does this make sense? Feel free to ask for clarification...the only dumb question is the one not asked! Mark
