App won't install on iPhone

I have created an app and have the ipa file into itunes and I can see the icon but after it tries to sync I'll get an error app failed to install. Any idea what caused this because the day before I had no trouble viewing another app on my device.

Or you just dragging the IPA into iTunes? I assume then your phone is jailbroken as that isn't the way to go about it.

If you are using a normal, non-jailbroken iPhone, then you need to get your provisioning certificate onto your phone in order to load it up. It's much better to load the app into your device using Xcode, the way it was meant to be done. You can fine a reference to the iTunes method in the Apple documentation on testing and distribution. Not a jailbroken phone. My iPad app installed like a champ without issue. Why the problem with iPhone?

The mobileprovision file was successfully installed on the iPhone under the General Setting Profile and the app starts to sync to the phone and then the phone gives me the error that the app wasn't installed.

So you are just trying to deploy to test on your iPhone, is that right? If so Mark is your man, do it via Xcode. Back in the day I spoofed my jailbroken phone to load an IPA I created in BT without having Xcode, worked but very dirty.

Yeah...super easy to do via Xcode and Organizer. My preferred method!

True story, other method is a nasty, dirty complicated hack from before I took the dev account plunge.

Try to drag the mobileprovision file you signed your app, to itunes. Then try to sync again. This might help.

Any idea why it was so easy for my iPad app vs iPhone app on getting it loaded on my device? I tried everything except xcode which I'll have to do when I get back to school in a couple of weeks. Thanks for he suggestions.
