Submitting apps for others

Hi, Hope someone has experience with this. A while ago a read something that it isn't possible anymore to submit apps for others (clients) and that they need to get an own Apple developer licence. Is it true and how about Android? If (with Apple) is true does Android have the same policy? Hope someone has experience with this. Thanks in advance and Best Regards, Danny

Thanks Jackhos1, I did some further investigation and it seems you can't submit apps for others (at least for Apple). I don't know yet for Android. Best Regards, Danny

Android doesn't seem to care yet (more than one user has used BT to create / submit literally hundreds of apps in one google account for all sorts of paying clients). But, this does not mean they won't begin to care eventually. If you're doing this for a fee, do your customs a favor and get them their own accounts - there really isn't any reason not too. If it's the $125 (100 Apple, 25, Google) that's hanging them up, I would suggest that you have the wrong group of customers. If it's cutting into your margins, I would suggest that you should charge more. Not trying to make useless suggestions, just saying that we see it everyday. Folks trying to offer a service for low cost where nobody wins. Nobody wins because you, the developer, are not getting compensated like you should for making somebody elses app. And, they, the customer, aren't getting their name in the app store / market like they want and deserve. Trust me, they want this, and, no matter how much you explain it to them before the agreement, I can almost guarantee you that Joe Client will ask you one or two days after you did 'the work' why HIS name is not in the App store / market. Funny how bad they want to be in these markets and don't hear you when you explain it all in the beginning. They don't get it generally, which is why they need you! Of course there are examples of good internal apps (used within an orgainization or business that are meant for a small group of users, these don't count). You're full service: Test the water a bit and ask for at least $1,000 bucks to make them a quality app. If they freak out, re-consider your model. My two cents - from a ridiculous amount of experience (70,000 apps in this thing) tells me that very very few folks are 'making money' with the low-cost, high volume app model. But, lots and lots of folks are making lots and lots of money by finding the right combination of price, service, customer. Price: about a grand. Service: Give them tons, do everyting, they dont' lift a finger. Customer: The kind that want and appreciate full-service and not the do-it-yourselfers. Hard to make money when you're customers are using the same tools you are - wink. Lastly, don't forget about the monthly service fees you deserve to handle all their updates. What you charge here will very wildy depending on the client / app / situation / backend requirement, etc. Get yourself a BT server running, get a dozen or so clients services, and you're off to a good start. d.
