iCloud!

Hi all, This is a general question as opposed to an app development question. Does anyone know how to use iCloud?! I downloaded anothe 10gb of storage for my sons iPod but am unable to download further apps (his device is full) even though cloud show Xgb free. Anyone know what to do or have i missed the point of icloud? Many thanks.

I guess it depends on what you think iCloud should or should not do? I get confused sometimes too. My photo stream (pics I take with my phone) seems to work magically, photos appear on my macbook, imac, and iphone, and ipad. As far as storage on the cloud, you may be misisng an important point. Adding storage space to your iCloud account has zero affect on the device. If the device is out of space, it will not install anything. It needs to have space to install - period. Once an app is installed, it could update / backup to iCloud but it won't 'live' on iCloud. It lives on the device. The biggest point of iCloud is that apps will begin to be able to save content to the cloud for the app. Example: You're using a music app and 'save' a song. The app developer could give you the option of saving it in the cloud (and not on the device) to save space. Then, because the developer understands how it works, the app could stream you the music instead of downloading the music file. Consider this with other documents like PDF, KeyNote, etc. Hope this helps.
