Validation error in Organizer-Archives: No suitable application records were found.

Validation error in Organizer-Archives: No suitable application records were found. Please make sure that you have set up a record for this application on iTunes Connect. I just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why I kept getting this error when I tried to validate my app in xcode. I had already set up my app in iTunes Connect, so I didn't understand why I got this error. It turns out I had to tell iTunes Connect that I was going to validate by setting the Status of my app in iTunes Connect to Waiting to Upload. Just wanted to share that. Sounds simple now, but wasn't obvious to me. btw, app submitted!
