RSS legality

Is it legal to use anybody's RSS feed on your app? I would like to use these to in future apps. Do I need to get permission? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sol/ukfs_sport/mobile/golf/rss.xml and http://www.lantaulink.com/feed/

You might want to take a look here --- http://www.bbc.co.uk/terms/ and the http://www.lantaulink.com TOS or AUP I couldn't find the link maybe you can. Generally I have never had an issue with apps I have developed that use RSS feeds, personally I don't like using them, but just look at the source for direction of legality.

RSS feeds are inherently public by default, that is the point of them but if you are concerned you could ask the owner of the feed. Using someone else's feed creates a dependency in your app, so if they change the feed URL or something you'd have to fix your app.

FlipBoard: Use now, ask for permission later. Yelling, screaming, pissed off 'RSS Ownsers' (the same owners that spend millions trying to get folks to see their content and subscribe to their RSS!) finally come around and realize that FlipBoard doing them a favor by introducing their content to a bigger audience. 14 months after being threatended, sued, and laughed at, FlipBoard's worth millions, on the iPhone commercial, and laughing all the way to the bank. RSS use it. It's public. Don't claim it's your. You'll be fine.
