Once you download it from us, the code is yours to edit however you see fit. I would probably start by doing some research into 'push notification'. There are several threads in the forum if you search for them. (for example: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=37FAB953175EE7E08F95349) I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'link to your flickr account' but many users to connect image gallery screens to flicker accounts. In this case, sending them an SMS doesn't go through your app, it's just like sending messages the old fashion way. There are services to help you send bulk SMS messages but again, this has zero to do with your mobile app. To send messages to your app (and therefore your users) Parker is right on, look into push-notifications, it's the way the mobile world expects you to send data to your app when it's not running.
