Feasibility of this App in BT

I'm currently creating an app to serve as the digital copy of our program for a conference. In it are many lists (speakers, events, locations) containing several hundreds of items; thus, I would not like to input this by hand through the BT web interface. I would like to have the app parse text from a query, like from Google's Fusion Tables, to create dynamic lists (data from an excel file might suffice). In Android App Inventor, this was simple to do. But due to limitations in App Inventor, I have sought out other solutions without have to code from scratch. I would like to know how much I would have to code myself and what features I can implement easily with BT. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially info on how to implement what I have mentioned. Thanks

What is the limitation you reference in Android App Inventor?

For the most part, I enjoy the flexibility that App Inventor provides but there are some finer details that still need to be implemented. For example, there is currently no such way to implement a sleep routine. I would like to use this to slow down any background processing so the app doesn't appear to be on an infinite loop. Although there is a clock function, it does not do what I believe a sleep function should do. The main issue I'm having is optimizing the data retrieval and storage (in which a sleep function might help). This process takes way too long given the tools already available for App Inventor. Instead, I would like to just use Google's Fusion Tables API and implement my own version that also works around their authentication system. Also, I would enjoy having the ability to modify the Java source code, but there is no way to view it. Lastly, I am interested in the multi-platform support of BT. I will probably continue working with App Inventor to find work arounds but would like to use BT for when I create a similar app for iOS.
