password screen help

Sorry if this has been answered. I have looked through the forums extensively. I am trying to create a login access to pdf files. I have added the screen, told it where to go after login etc. the problem i am having is how do i set an email and password to login with? I am running the xcode simulator and keep getting errors. I have tried changing the buzz touch authentication url but that doesn't seem to help. I know i am missing something. I even managed to get a different tab to load up the login screen of my webpage and can login in via that. the problem is that then doesn't let me get to files on the app, only on the website. I want this as native as possible. I don't mind loging in to website, i just then need it to access the app, not the web. i hope this all makes sense, and thanks for your help. Thas is the functionality that made me choose Buzztouch over others, so i have to get this working. Dave

Hi Dave, The login screen will send the credentials via merge fields to the address specified in the Authentication URL. At that URL you'll have a script of some sort (usually .php) that will accept the login values sent in the merge fields, compare them to usernames and passwords in the script, and return essentially either 'failed' or 'valid'. (Although the valid response will look a little different.) Have a look at the documentation to see how this works. http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/screen_settingsLogin.php There is a small section dealing with authentication at the bottom.

thanks Parker. i am trying to get it working via buzztouches authentication url not my one. i can't even get that to return a positive response. Once i get that operational i will experiment with my own site.

nice post. now that i've got my first basic informational app going- this is the next goal - send users a pdf via the app. but these need to be authenticated users! looks like ver 1.5 is more suited for this.....

sounds good. i need to put toghether a hackintosh or vmware box today so i can run xcode and develop my app for ios. i've only just got my first Android app built. still kinda of getting a feel for everything buzztouch is and has to offer, i'm intered in the server as well but that will be next step. i do have access to a programming guru. he's been writing code for 20+ years and he's pushing me to add this functionality to this basic app. he doesn't want to write the whole app but will assist in this area. we do work with medical records and sensitive info so there needs to be a level of security and possibly encryption down the road....

pretty sure i'm going to have to look for other solutions as as website is hosted on a windows server and that doesn't work with Buzztouch 2.0 server. i can't migrate it to linux so i'm almost stuck now. I did get members only working with a html page referenced to the members area on my website. so basically you are logging into our website. it works fine if you have it set up for mobile viewing and the content is useable on mobile. If i stick with this that is the path i will probably go down.
