New Plugin: TabBar Configuration

This plugin allows your users to customize/organize their tab bar layout to their preference using a drag and drop functionality. On iOS the 5th tab will automatically become the “More” tab with a list view layout to include an icon next to each menu item. This provides your app users a friendly user experience as it puts them in the driver seat to what they want to see. Currently support iPhone/iPad, iOS6 and up. Expected to release android version January 9th - wrapping up some final testing.

Congrats on the plugin! Looks nice :) But one question -- people still use tab bars in iOS apps?

Thanks guys. @mysps - The answer to your question is a matter of opinion. As a UX/UI designer, I can argue slide out navigation menus are to serve for a purpose to take up less real estate and mainly used for apps that don't intend for users to be changing screens very often. Tabbed applications are meant for quicker access. My response to your question would be - take a look at some of the top 100 apps in the app store. Those whom are not games, majority consensus have sided with a tabbed layout :) It really all depends on the purpose of the app and the user experience you're looking to provide for your users. All the best

Looks awesome! Working on a non tabbed app right now. However I think this would be great on the new larger 6 and 6+ screens. Innovative way to let the user be in control of the UI. Great job!!

Question: From the video it looked like the user can re-arrange the first four tabs. Is this correct, or is there any way to stop them from changing either the Home or first 4?

Hi NCbuzz - I'm not sure I understand the second part of the question "or the first 4?" The plugin allows the user to re-arrange all tabs but the 5th tab AKA the "More" tab. Currently there is no option to stop the user from editing a specific tab. I am in the process of updating the code to not allow a specific screen to be added to a tab (i.e. imagine you have a tab on the More menu for "send feedback" - it wouldn't make much sense to allow the user to add this as a tab, so there will be an option in the control panel to mark it as "editable" when adding menu items) If you want to play with the functionality of the plugin before purchasing, load the Music app that come pre-installed on all iOS devices. This app has the exact same functionality as the plugin.

Thanks-can you tell I don't use the Music App ;) After checking out the Music App I see how it works. On the tabbed app that I had previously made, the first icon was for the home screen. I like the option to enable the user to customize the other items, but would like the ability to not let them replace the first item. That way I could always insure that everyone had easy access to the Home screen functionality. Would that be possible with the update you are working on?
