testing app before upload

how do i test the functions of an app in development

depends on your platform, you will either test in Eclipse (android) or Xcode (iOS) When I first started here I thought there was a simulator feature, but I shortly realized that you have to use the other software to do it. Eclipse is a free download, but Xcode is part of Apple developer kit and you need to pay the license fee. (if I'm wrong someone please correct me) Jim

And even better than a simulator is to test them on a real device! You can use Xcode to install apps on your iPhone or iPad (using development certificates), and Android lets you create debug versions and install as well. Simulators are nice, but nothing beats the real thing! Mark
