stoping cache in an app or killing multi task? Android V.1.4

using a url page with a video player on it (not youtube) When you exit the app perhaps to multi task and come back and enter that menu item (url page) it will show fine but somewhere in the background you can still hear the original video from the page playing as well but cant see it. Is there a way to turn off the cache or perhpas multi tasking ability for my app I rather the app not play anything on exit with out he user having to click MENU and TERMINATE APP cause so many people these days barely know how to use a smart phone and I want it to be as easy as possible.. Is this cache or some command to stop the app from running in background from simply pressing the back key to go and do whatever else some onece to do on their android phone.

Not sure. Not much time tonight to look into this...But, you could try having a look at the Android Activity Class (.java file) that runs / loads when for the video screen. Probably called something like screen_video.java (or something close to that) in the /src folder in Eclipse. The idea would be to get your head around the concept of a screen/activities Lifecycle. Every screen has a lifecycle. Sounds like you want to 'kill' or 'stop' the video when the screen is pushed to the background. In Android you'll want to investigate the onPause() method of the activity class. Gonna be a matter of turning off the media player onPause so it doesn't keep playing. Wish I could look into this for ya...can't for awhile.
