Apple and iOS operating system assume users undrstand how to operate their device. When a new app launches (in this case the native dialer app) then closes the previous app is in the multi-taskign tray. Users will need to use the home button to expose this tray then bring your app back to the forefront. There are a few hacks around this idea (because we all know how many folks don't get it and because we all know how much sweater it would be if our apps magically became active again) but Apple's major against it so it doesn't do much good to try to get around it.
