The /files directory is created when you install the package. It is NOT overwritten when you go through the install during updates. In other words, if it exists, nothings changed. If it doesn't exist, it's created. Why is there no /files directory? Maybe go through the install again? Look in the download, you'll see a /files folder that is empty. After uploading the package, then going through the install process, you need to make the /files folder writable for PHP so you can upload plugins. There are other folders that are needed in the /files folder like files/applications and /files/temp. You'll need to figure out why you don't have these directories. Step 3 in the install is where these are created.

Also getting this: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /BT-server/install/install_2.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

There's something wrong. If you cannot run a simple php page (access forbiden) you wont' be able to get this to work. Does your macine run .php? is it a Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP based website? Are you using the proper URL to the document you are trying to access? These are errors I would expect to see BEFORE you intalled anything. In other words, it looks like your website is either a) unable to run php pages. or b) Does not have the unzipped bt server 2.0 application uploaded where you think it does.
